quiet time..

I have just begun a study in the book "Keep a Quiet Heart" by Elisabeth Elliot. This book is a compilation of articles she has written over her years of sending out weekly newsletters. These are wonderful gems of wisdom to help me grow closer to the Lord in my quest for a quiet and meek spirit. I have also continued my reading of the proverbs, now up to proverbs 9, and I am so enjoying the indepth study of these wonderfully penned words. I can see the wisdom of God in each and every verse like I haven't been able to previously and I am truly blessed by this study.
I am also continuing to build my scripture journal which I will share on this blog shortly.

I hope everyone has had a blessed Christmas holiday filled with family and friends.

quiet time...

Today I finished the book "Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit". The chapters today were on how to preserve the meek and quiet spirit, beginning with being greatful and content for the things that we do have. It is a great perspective during this time of year which tends to be challenging with all the business and chaos. I know my children have been exhibiting signs of the craziness of these times, my sweet dd-3 seems to have forgotten how to use the potty and has been having all kinds of accidents!! That is a great tester of my newly found meek and quiet spirit.
I am excited to be beginning a study by Elisabeth Elliot, "Keep a Quiet Heart" tomorrow. I know this book will allow me an even deeper understanding of a meek and quiet spirit and help me to apply these things I have learned to my everyday life. I have also started reading Elisabeth Elliot's book, "The Shaping of a Christian Family", this one is just for fun!!
Today I read both Proverbs 4 and 5 and really enjoyed the challenging words of wisdom that reminds me to daily, hourly keep His commands in my heart and mind lest I should fall. I do think that Proverbs is my favorite book of the Bible- at least for now.

daily quiet time...

I am currently working through the book: "Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit." Today I read the chapter about Depression. Although this is not something that I currently struggle with, there was some great insight about not allowing the daily trials of life-whatever they may be-to steal your joy and upset the meek and quiet spirit.
My daily reading today was Proverbs 3- I am journaling the scriptures in the chapters that I read that stand out to me pertaining to the things I am working through in life. I think I wrote all but 4 scripture verses down out of this chapter. There is so much wonderful daily wisdom to be gleaned from Proverbs- it is one of my favorite books of the Bible.
I am working on creating a prayer reminder journal, a journal divided into sections such as Discipline, Joy, Fear, etc. where I can go quickly to find scriptures quickly when I am in a tough situation. This is a great way to keep a meek and quiet spirit daily. I will be sharing mine on this blog in the near future.

my life, my blog...

This blog is my journal... my journey into a closer spiritual walk with the Lord, a healthier lifestyle, and a more complete life. I need a place to keep up with the progress I am making on my journey and here it is.
I have started this journey before the new year in an attempt to make this much more than just a New Year's resolution that fades with the beginning of the year, but this will be a life-changing experience. This will include my daily food log and exercise journal and my daily quiet times with the Lord and the tidbits I glean along the way.
Every journey should begin with a goal, and so stated, will be the direction in which I am headed. My goals are as follows:
-spend daily quiet time with the Lord
-read through the Bible as the Lord leads- finish the whole Bible in one year
-cultivate a meek and quiet spirit that leads my thoughts and actions throughout daily life
-eat a healthy, organic, life-sustaning diet that allows my body to function in the fullness that God intended
-prepare my body for the next child-bearing journey I will be starting
-continue fast of caffeine, begin major reduction of white flour and sugar in my diet
Every goal has to have a purpose/a destiny that encourages one to pursue it. My purpose is to embrace the fullness of the destiny that the Lord has purposed for my life. To walk eveyday in the path of becoming more and more the Proverbs 31 woman to the glory of my family. To create a body that is able to travel the world sharing the gospel with those the Lord puts in my path. To live a life to the Glory and Honor of my Lord.
I hope those who stumble onto this blog are able to glean some measure of insight, inspiriation and encouragement from my journey. I am sure there will be bumps in the road, but the righteous will prevail for the Lord should have the Glory.
