This is excellent news!!! I'm so happy for you...and that you have found SOW. Can I ask what or how it is different to Weaver and what made you look for something else?

Hi Susan, I do not know how to answer this below so I will answer it here because it a good question.

Sow was a curriculum that I seen about 3 years ago and every year it just kept coming back up and coming back up. Never forceful but it was always the first to my mind. When I first asked the Lord why he wanted me to homeschool that was so that they would know Him. What a better way to have school than out of his word to feast on. I am finding it beneficial for mum too. It good to start the day off in such a way.

I love weaver but there bible section some times looked more like and after thought than attached to it. Where this is asking the children to share what they learnt what that means to them. How can they change there actions to line up with Gods word. I like it because the lessons have been fresh we have had some struggles with teething problems but more from bad attitude than the curriculum. Weaver is a great curriculum put it this way it is the first curriculum that I am not selling in case we want to go back too. I am holding it because that is how much we enjoyed it but just Sow kept coming to mind that I decided to try is the biggest reason for change and so far the house seems happy with it.

Last week

HI We had week of surprises. After the fire someone reported me for not teaching my children so I had inspectors come and did checks on my children. God showed true meaning to his scripture

Teach them of me and in the right time I will give them the nessecary knowledge. I cannot think the exact scripture but anyway that the gist of it I will find it and fix this jumble up..

Any way last week spent testing the children so that children services could close the case against the family once and for all.

The results came in rather pleasing and surprising but gave us area that we can work on. So as much as I hated it was good too. Both to see how they are going against there age group and even better to see where they needed help in.

The results were as followed

Grade 6'ers-- level 4 (nearly at the end of the scale though)..So they need a bit of work but in general I beleive they did well. Like I know they may not know semi colon and phonograms and all that stuff but I know I can take these girls out to the creek. And these children could give the inspector a whole eye opening effect. They know nature like the back of there hand.

Grade 4 -- level 4 (right on track)---yeehaa I was so excited like I know Cait cannot read but the knowledge was in her head for recall

Grade 2--level 2 (But way above she is half way thorugh the year of work. I am so proud of here.

Tuesday Lesson

Today we did our first lesson with the new SOW curriculum. WOW IT was a great day. WE read genesis 1. I asked all the children what stood out to the most and the biggest thing that stood out ot them. God did this and check it was perfect.. This was a moment of God we were able to discuss how even God needed to recheck if it was right. So often they have been starting jobs and not finishing them. If they checked there work like God did the house would stay tidier. I am sitting there Yes LOrd, Yes Lord this was so much more powerful than anything I could keep harping. So yes day one was awesome day. I felt our children really trying to draw nearer to God which is what I want of this curriculum

MOnday's lesson

We did maths and english. We started very late due to girls having sleep over. I also did the phonics with the little ones.

So not much of learning today but it won't hurt to break back in slow.

Our New Year started

Well we decided this year was our first week back at school. Yesterday I decided I took the children all down to the waltzing matilda centre. We went through the art gallery and the musuem. We had a ball.

Then when I got home I got each child to draw for me what they learnt. If they could write they had to write there outing into a narration for me with the things we learned. I was pretty horrified though when the handling come in. After i took all the children into all through everything my little girl all she learned that trains have toilets. Hmm.

Well today. I corrected yesterday writing and I made the mistakes into there spelling word for the weeks.

They all had to write for three times.
Zoe and amy I made to write in there prayer journals

they did saxon maths

cait and kim did miquon maths

Cait and kim learnt the J

Then we went on we learned about USA continents. Then we were suppose to write a poem for the US but that was too hard for us when we have very limited knowledge so I let them right a poem for australia. There poems turned out alright.

We had fun today and no tears so that is always an added bonus

My goals are for this year is

Improve Zoe and Amy spellings

Get maths better in there head spelling

Get Caitlyn Reading she has deep dyslexia this will be her third year but this year I want to get her reading fluent.

Get Kimberley reading

Plus to do weaver curriculum until our Student of the Word curriculum

WE plan to start back at school on Monday the 9th January. Mum has got to do some planning to do I am not yet enthusiastic about starting school but once we start it will happen.
