Are Your Kids a Blessing?

Like most homeschoolers, I love to talk with other people about homeschooling. When I tell someone I homeschool, the usual remark is "I don't know how you can be with your kids all day!" Well, to be honest, it swelled my pride some which I shamefully admit. Don't get me wrong, my kids aren't perfect and, of course, neither am I. We still have those moments, and some days when I feel like I'm going nuts. Overall, though, I am so blessed to have my kids and even more so to have them with me each day. I enjoy them so much and I see the time slipping by too fast.

This morning I was thinking on how thankful I am that the Lord has allowed us to homeschool and be with eachother each day but then I thought how awful the above statement really is (as well as my inward response of pride)!!!!! How sad to think a Mom sees one of her biggest blessings as a bother to have around all day!

You can sit there and endure your kids or you can make it a matter of enjoying them. If you are enduring, I challenge you to purpose in your heart to love the time you have left with your children!!!!

DAYCARE OR SCHOOL?

Why are people trying so hard to have children leave their parents at such a young age? First it was after school programs, like kids really need to stay at school once school is over. Then came along the before school programs, that's nice, make them go to school before school even starts.

Now that they (the schools) have the children from sunup to sundown, what's left......now they're targeting the little ones still at home barely out of diapers? When do the parents get to be parents if they're off to school at age 4 and 5 and now even 3 years of age?

It's shameful!!!! Schools are nothing but glorified daycares. This may sound harsh but I am sick of seeing little ones bussed off to school to be taught nothing of value. Oh yes, they are more than willing to teach the children NOT to stand for what they believe in, NOT to mention God (in any good way), to be ashamed to be a Christian, to tolerate ungodly and immoral behavior, and the list goes on!!!!

Although it saddens me to see all the little ones get on the bus each morning to head off to their daycare, oops, I mean school, I am also filled with a great sense of joy knowing my kids are where they belong.....at home with me!!!

Well, at the insistence of my dear friend I am now attempting my first blog. After all my reluctance I decided to give in to her never ending reminders to start this thing. I will have to face her tomorrow at church and rather than give her another excuse (quite honestly, I think I have run out of them) I decided to take the plunge. I keep asking myself, "who has the time or even the interest to read my ramblings?" I guess I will find out soon enough. Well, a little about me.................

My husband is in the Navy and we've been married 13 years. We have three beautiful children (who doesn't think their children are beautiful?)!!!!! Our son will be 12 next week, and our daughters are 8 and 5. We are in our 6th year of homeschooling and praise God for it!!!!!!!!!! I will have to write another entry all about how we got started homeschooling. For now I'll stick to the subject of me!!!!

I was born and raised in California as a Navy brat.....and proud of it. Right now we're on the East Coast which I have found to be quite different than what we're used to (I miss California). In six months we'll be transferring from South Carolina to North Carolina. Thanks to our military trying to save your tax dollars we're not able to go any farther than the next state. That's ok, though, I love moving (that comes in handy being in the military). It's one more adventure!!!!!

We have been to California (of course), Okinawa twice, and South Carolina. Each move has brought us to a great church with wonderful people. In California we went to West Coast Baptist, we went to Maranatha Baptist both times we were in Okinawa (we consider this our home church because it's the first church we went to as a family after my husband accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour), and here in South Carolina we're going to Victory Baptist .

I like to do all sorts of crafts (especially making greeeting cards). I love American History and reading Christian historical romance. I enjoy photography, cross-stitching, and quilting. My passion, though, is homeschooling and the military!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess that's enough about me for starters. How was that Twinkie?
