Rice Manipulation. "School" March 9th, 2006

TONS of FUN!!

This is what we did for "school time" today. The girls LOVED it! Originally I was going to use this rice to make Draft Absorbers to keep at the threashold of our doors during this winter, but alas our sewing machine thought it too big a task (humph!) and I had two very large bags of this rice leftover! I had been keeping it anyway, along with the cloth, hoping we could fix the sewing machine eventually and finish the project. Then a few days ago I was reading about some Montessorie ideas from the "Mega Mommy" herself Barbara Curtis, and I thought, YAY!! That's our next project!!

By transferring from cup to cup ,or pouring into a funnel. I love this Montessorie stuff! The concept of learning through hands on fun projects!! Just so much fun for both "students" and "teacher"!!

How the two of them fit inside that box I will never know lol! Silly Monkeys! *giggles* My, how they capture my heart! *sigh*

School is cool!! Shaving Cream Art (3-1-06)

Today for school we got to finger paint on the dining table with shaving cream!! It was SOOoooo much fun!!! Mommy got this great idea from our Aunt Sherry, our friend's Kayla and Leah's Mommy! We SOOoo LOVE to do "school!" Mommy says it is something about science and art expression mixed together, but we don't really care right now besides that it is SO much fun!! We draw triangles and circles and hearts!

Julia Loves to move forward with both hands right away spreading it all out in an even pattern as far as she can reach, while Megan starts out painting with just one finger, but eventually Megan has both hands covered just like Julia does! By the end of this session, Megan had shaving cream sleeves to be exact! Mommy loves doing this, not only in watching us have so much fun, but also because it leaves her table very shiney and with a surprisingly nice aloe scent! lol!

Gymnastics Time!!!

Welcome!! We have been waiting so long to share about our fun days at gymnastics! Every wednesday we get to spend 45 whole minutes, running, jumping, flipping, rolling, swinging, hanging, bouncing and stretching!! We start class by doing a few laps around the tumble track to get warmed up. Then we sit on the mats and do some fun stretches and Miss April takes rollcall. Then we split up and half the class gets to do Floor Exercises while the other half "swings like monkies" on the high bars.

The Floor Excerises are really fun because we get to crawl inside tubes and then climb up different mats and roll down them front ways or backways (mommy is always there to help us too) then we also get to crawl under some things or hop over things and then walk very slowly on a Double Beam set real low. The Double Low Beam helps us practice our balance as well as how to jump at the end and land with both feet together!

Here is a picture of Julia on the Highbars! It is soo much fun, but SOoo high it's kind of scary. Sometimes we swing back and forth like monkeys and other times we actually get to do backflips like Tarzan does (Miss April always assists at all times on all stunts) Some days when we are afraid to do the flips Miss April is real nice and let's us practice bringing our toes up to our hands and touching them to the bars instead. That's fun too.

After these two events we split up again and half the class gets to jump onto and hop over the Horse and then climb up to the High Beam, while the other class practices running on the Tumble Track. Mommy always helps us at the Horse and on the High Beam because it is really far down to jump at the end. Plus it is really thin, like 3 inches or something!

The Tumble Track is always fun because it is super bouncy!! We love running up and bouncing on the mini trampoline where Miss April helps us learn how to jump real high on it as we run up to it. Then we get to do lots of things all the way down the Tumble Track from Jumping Jacks to Tuck Jumps (where we try to bring our knees up to our chest) to our favorite part which is the Spiders!! When we do Spiders we get to run and jump on the trampoline and crawl on our hands and feet all the way down the rest of the track like we are spiders!! It is really fun! Most of the time though, as soon as we jump on the tramp we just take off running because you go REALLY fast! I think mommy sometimes gets frustrated that we don't listen to Miss April and just take off running instead, but sometimes we do try really hard to listen, ...but geez! It is just SO much fun to just RUN!!! Here is a picture of Megan running on the Tumble Track! Daddy says he likes this picture because it reminds him of Thing One and Thing Two from Dr.Seuss.

Then everyone gets a sticker for doing good and mommy gives us a little snack while she gets us dressed to leave. This is mommy's favorite part because she gets to go to Burger King for lunch afterwards! *giggles*

Welcome to our new site! Mommy finally decided to make a site all OUR own! *giggles* Now we will finally be able to share all the neat things we are doing and learning as mommy begins "School" with us, and we'll be able to share our new drawings and latest pieces of artwork, and of course Daddy just loves putting up new photos of us at play! It's going to be SOOO much fun!! We love and miss all of you!! (((hugs)))
