Nature Study

Today we got in an unexpected bit of nature study when we discovered this hidden away in our back garden!

A beautiful, early daffodil just coming into bloom! R sketched it out on a piece of nature journal paper from Donna Young and we put it in her work folder.

As today is Sunday, it's "real English tea" day Yum! homemade scones and carrot cake! I'm going to make sure I enjoy it to it's fullest too as tomorrow I start a diet and I have to be good!

Quiet but productive day

Today was quiet, but pleasant. Did some Charlotte Mason type work with R this morning - she read a piece from her Usborne history book on dinosaurs then did a written narration and illustrated it. She then (very quickly!) completed a maths addition worksheet. I gave A a pencil and some paper and she enjoyed scribbling away at her own little table. I did take a photo of her working but realised afterwards that the camera didn't have the memory card in and thus no pic!

Other than that R spent the rest of the day drawing! Told you it was quiet!

Tomorrow, dh is (hopefully!) going to pick up our new car - will be sooo nice to get rid of the old banger we've got now!

Hello and welcome!

I am a homeschooling mum of 2 living in the UK. I have 2 daughters - R who is 8 years old and A who is 14 months. We use a bit of a mix of methods to homeschool and sometimes I wish we could just focus on one - would certainly make life a little less complicated!

Like many homeschoolers, I generally struggle to keep the house tidy (too much stuff!), do lots of brilliant things with my kids AND find time for me. I guess that's what this blog is about - sometimes putting things down on "paper" can help to focus your mind and I hope that blogging will help me do that. If it helps or inspires anyone else along the way then so much the better
