Everyone thinks I'm nuts. I like it that way! - Homeschool Blogger

What? A homeschooler that makes club dance music? Yup! This blog speaks of music, politics, religion, life, and just plain randomness or ranting.

New blog. If you really care about that sort of thing.

So yeah, I've got another blog up, for anyone that really cares about that sort of thing. Thought I'd throw this out there in case any of my old HSB friends are still around. http://walkingwordmachine.blogspot.com/2009/12/on-words-and-their-meanings.html

Another once-in-a-blue-moon post.

Wellll, since I haven't updated this site in a LONG time, here's what's happened recently. Christmas was great, I got a couple nifty gadgets and a subscription to my favorite computer magazine. On New Year's Eve, me and my brothers and a couple friends stayed up all night playing my favorite game (Tremulous, I wrote an entry on it a while back) over a network so we were all in the same game. It was FUN!

Aaand now we're back doing good ol' (well, I dunno about the "good" part, heh) schoolwork. Physics, Bible history and reading, a few other things, and yeah...my old nemesis, Calculus. At least I switched curriculums, so this new one isn't quite as heavy on the assignments (which is good cos the other one had WAY TOO MANY FRIKKIN PROBLEMS!). I'm still learning, though!

Last but definitely not least, I'm now a regular poster over at ReliantClay.com. In case you're one of the few HSB-ers who hasn't learned this yet, Chris (he of HSB fame) started a new blog and now has guest writers as well. Me included! I post once a week (on Thursdays) about cool music and stuff. Check it out, you won't be sorry. Also this means that if you get a comment from me, it's most likely me returning the comment from RC instead of here--although I'm just overall lousy about returning comments. However, if I don't really have anything to say about your blog, I probably won't say it. It doesn't help when your blog is just about your life (which ironically is mostly what mine's about >_< ). Ah well. At least over at RC we have something (sorta) meaningful to say every time.

One last thing--if my spelling is a tad shaky on this entry, it's cos I'm not using Firefox. I'm on a different computer on which Firefox doesn't seem to work, so I'm stuck with Internet Explorer--or "Internet Exploder" as I like to call it. WWW.GETFIREFOX.COM

Being sick is "t3h suxx0rz."

So, I've been sick since Thursday. Which is not cool. I'm sitting here on Sunday evening, still running a temperature and sitting all wrapped up in my comforter wishing I was not sick. Fun, eh? It's a typical winter bomb--stuffy nose, fever, headache, horrible cough, stomachache, and generally feeling terrible all over. Did I mention the cough? I hate coughs. Yes, you may all send waves upon waves of pity down my way now....

Oh, before I forget, there's probably at least one person who, for some brief moment, wondered how Black Friday at My Workplace went. Well, it went quite well I must say. We set a new store record for most money brought in in a day--beat the old record ($1800) by a grand total of $800! Happiness. Wootness. Insert your favorite exclamation of joy here ness.

Woo. I'm really just sitting here typing random stuff, now isn't that exciting! Oh wait, you might want to hear about a new band though....

We're called "Bird Sings Blues," and it's a friend of mine on guitar, keys, songwriting, and vocals and me on beats, synths, programming, and production. Our first song is "Hold On" and you can either listen to it here or just go to my ProjectPlaylist thingy and check it out there. You can add it to your Playlist too, if you're so moved. Just search for "Bird Sings Blues" on ProjectPlaylist and you should find it.

Speaking of ProjectPlaylist, I know I've gotten a few requests from people to be able to stick some of the music from Flexstyle (mah solo name) on their playlist. I've recently uploaded a piece or two and linked ProjectPlaylist to them and now if you just search Flexstyle you should find the songs. I tested this, don't worry.

Well there ya go, another post from Mwa.

One of my far-and-few-between posts!

Hope that header is grammatically correct....ah well. Anyways. Hi everyone! *does hypercaffinated superdance*

*dies of exhaustion*

Well that went well, now what was I here for anyways? Ohh yeah, right...a few things.

First off, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving day. We went to our grandparents' church and had a most excellent Thanksgiving feast prepared by several senior citizens. Added together, there were hundreds if not thousands of years of cooking experience. It was probably the tastiest Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had, honestly.

After that we went over to our cousins' house and met up with the other side of the family. Ate some pie, goofed around a LOT. So all in all it was a very good day, I'd say.

Now tomorrow (I'm typing this on Thursday evening, at about 10:00 or so), I get to work a 7-hour shift at my work. On "Black Friday." Apparently last year on BF we had our busiest day of the year, and now our daily average income has doubled. Which of course means our BF income will be doubled which means our workload will. be. doubled. I'm kinda apprehensive about the whole thing, but at least I don't have to work in the morning! For anyone that's out of the loop by the way, I work at a coffee shop.

YAY so now you've got a short-term update of what I'll be doing. As if you cared, heh.

Something you hopefully care a little bit more about, I've stuck a couple new tracks up on my ACIDplanet page, and here are links:
Lost Horizon - an original, relaxing trance track.
Anatomy of a Human Bomb - a remix of the band Wideband Network. It's for a contest at ACIDplanet and I hope I win

Anyhowzorz, this is my once-in-a-blue-moon post fer y'allz. Leave a comment if ya want to say "hi" or whatever, I'll at least stop by your blog and say "hi" back most likely.

Just to let you know I'm alive

Hey all, I'm finding it harder and harder to get to post. And a lot less motivated as well...

So just to let you know, I'm alive, but I'm probably not going to be around hardly at all.

Pet Peeves, Episode Two

Ah lovely, another episode of the Pet Peeves series that will most likely never end! Heh, well here I go:

Today I feel like ranting about poor templates. You know, the ones where you have to scroll all over the screen to see all of the latest entry? And the ones where they use Comic Sans in a color that totally clashes with the rest of the blog? Which isn't hard, because all the colors they've used on the blog clash anyways. Plus, I really don't feel like hearing the little animated birdie chirp to be fed, 'cos it's interfering with the ProjectPlaylist player that's also on the page. Oh yeah, and that PP player is taking up so much space in the sidebar it's not even funny. It IS possible to edit the thing so it's a lot smaller--take a look at mine for example. When having a blog, I'd recommend going with substance over so-called style; meaning, that even if you have to go with a "boring" template, do so. At least it's clean and not a total eyesore!

If you must have all the fancy-shmancy Flash widgets and stuff, I'd recommend finding someone who's got some decent HTML skills and ask them to help you out. For instance, I can help you with at least cleaning up and straightening out your current template, even if I'm still figuring out how the whole Design-A-Template thingy goes. Not that this necessarily applies to YOU, my dear reader, but hey. Just in case!

And by the way, this doesn't just go for HomeschoolBlogger. This goes for a lot of websites, most MySpace pages, and a heck of a lot of other things.

Rant over.

Oh, for those of you who wanted to find the link for the "Rate My Blog!" thing I posted last time, you can find it here.

Catch y'awlz laterz.

What the...?

Today I took a "What's My Blog Rated?" quiz, and it turned out that this was the result:

(note, you can't click on the picture. I just linked the picture, not the code.)

Huh? I mean, maybe so, but here's why they rated it as such...the word "Missionary" that appears once in a tag. The word "missionary" makes for a PG rated film (which is what this ratings system is supposedly based on)?!?

Eleventyseven - Galactic Conquest (and also, Capture the Flag!)

Ah, sorry guys. It's already October 9th and I haven't hardly posted in October at all!

I haven't bought a CD in a few years. Most of the music I listen to comes for a free download off the internet (legally) or on radio stations or internet radio or something. Or I just listen to what my friends have to show me--in this case, Eleventyseven's new album Galactic Conquest. When I heard this one, I knew I just had to buy it.

This album is, in my opinion, one of the best I've come across in a while. Its style is a cross between Hawk Nelson/Relient K and a some synth-laden pop music. Complete with energetic guitars and beats but drenched with synthesizers as well, I really love this synth-punk (hey, I invented a new genre word!) music. Of course, some of the reviews I've read don't really like this fusion but for me...yeah! You all know how much I love synthesizers, and I really like punk rock as well. This is perfect for me. You can check what's probably the best song on their album on their Shoutlife page--the song's called Love in your Arms. Oh, and for those wondering, Shoutlife is basically a Christian-run-and-moderated MySpace. It's MySpace with all the good social networking stuff and without all the cruddy pictures and stuff (the pictures are manually reviewed before being allowed to show up on the site).

That song alone is enough to buy the album, honestly. The rest of the songs are pretty good too.

Well now I'm going to talk about a really fun Capture the Flag night our StudentMinistries group had on Saturday night. Our church campus is fairly large, and we had the whole thing to run around on like crazy chickens with their heads cut off! I set up a nice, loud PA system--unfortunately the speakers I had to use had their tweeters blown. In layman's terms, that means that there were absolutely no high frequencies being heard. Mostly just bass and midrange sounds. So, the music I was playing sounded very muffled! That's ok, since it was dance music and everyone knows the bass is what matters for that anyways! Heh.

Well my team lost all three games we played, but oh well. I still had a good ol' time anyways! Even if I am one of the slowest-footed people out there. What I mean by that is I can run pretty fast in a straight line, but if I'm trying to evade someone then I'm toast. So that means I spent a bit of time in jail. Ah well, it was still very fun!!!

One more thing, I've posted yet another song on ACIDplanet--you can listen to it by clicking here.

So there you guys go. Make sure to check out Eleventyseven! And sorry for my recent lack of posting, I've mostly been working on a remix for a contest at ACIDplanet.com and doing school and working and playing Tremulous (which I posted about a while back).

Sick coworkers, remix contests, and more!

Well yesterday was certainly interesting. That morning I got a call from my supervisor saying one of the workers had called in sick and they needed me to come in and help out. That was fine with me, I mean, I get more hours and more $$$$!! Heh. Things got very interesting that afternoon though. Apparently there was another schedule mixup and one of the girls thought she wasn't coming in that day (that's the way it was on her schedule copy). SO, the afternoon supervisor Amanda was going nuts trying to find SOMEONE to come help out. Thankfully the afternoons are fairly slow, and we did finally get someone to come in and help out. I have now discovered that the afternoon shift at my work is with the nuttiest group of people ever! Not in a bad way though, heh. Ah, good times, good time....

In other news, I've launched a remix competition over at a site called 1am-mediaforums.com. I've provided some material, and now hopefully I'll have some good remixes to choose from for my upcoming album. The contest ends in early November, so expect to be able to get it (the album) in about December, if you feel like owning some of muh music.

Oh, and one more thing--check out some of the new stuff I've added to my profile playlist. The bottom few are from a really sweet downloadable album from OCRemix.org. That site is dedicated to remixing video game music, and this album remixes the entire Final Fantasy VII soundtrack. Even if you haven't played the game (I haven't), you're sure to love this album. It's got jazz, classical, trance, breakbeat, cinematic, rock, metal, and more! Totally clean too as far as any lyrics go, since most of the songs don't even HAVE lyrics. You can check the whole thing out at FF7.OCRemix.org.

Anyhow, hopefully I'll have more to talk about soon!
