Well my whole world has gone to the chickens. They are the center of my boys' world right now, and I feel like half my actions during the day have revolved around them aswell....cleaning out the water since they are forever mucking it up with the bedding, pushing them back into their box when they attempt to fly up on to the "hospital" box, taking care of the 2 chicks in the "hospital" box, filling feed and water....not to mention letting the kids play and hold them numerous times throughout the day. So here they are in all their glory- and their new names as well....
First we have " The best chick in the world" AKA Shadow. Shadow is my oldest's chick. She is very tame now and won't budge an inch when I stick my hand in the box and lets me pet and pick her up, often comes running when we come around. Here she is sitting and sleeping on both my 4 and 6 yr old.

Next we have the newly named: Brown Cow she's sweet has just recently become a favorite (She is the darker one, the yellow one is Wendy- she is the 2yr old's chick)
Speaking of Wendy- I don't have a good picture of her. That is probably because there are 8 Wendys. We have 8 yellow chicks and can't tell them apart...
Next we have Brownie. Brownie is currently in the "hospital" box and we aren't sure if she will make it. The second chick that is on my son's arm was the other sickly one, she died this evening a few hours after we had them out. She snuggled on his arm the whole time. Brownie is a little more active, but who knows...

Not pictured here are: the 2 turkens: Turk and Turkey Lurkey who I might add are very ugly unique chickens, Blackie, Eunice, Bluno/Bluto/Bruno (I can't understand my kid's pronuciation)
And if you like our names you should hear the cats: Purr, Meow, Zoe, Stella, Paul Daddy, Leopold, Ice Cream and Socks. At our highest we had 18 cats- other names: Puffin, Tigger, Pooh, Milky, Chocolate Milk, Chocolate Chip, Boots, Spot, Speckle and Candy. Almost all named by my now 6 yr old at some point in his life. |
