It's time for another round of, "Children Say the Funniest Things!"
Our two sons are adopted, Boy 1 is part Hawaiian, and Boy 2 is Filipino. The subject of their ethnic backgrounds came up quite often as Boy 1 tried to get things straight in his mind.
Several years ago we were moving and I decided to get fast food for dinner instead of dirtying dishes I needed to pack. We opted for Taco Bell. I ordered a Nachos Supreme with jalapeno's. We took our order home as I have a thing about eating in fast food restaurants.
Boy 1, at the ripe old age of four had decided he might like hot foods. He asked if he could try a jalapeno. I gave him one and he popped it into his mouth and gave it a few crunches and passes over his tongue. Next thing I knew his eyes popped open as well as his mouth. In a very loud, breathy voice he announced, "Bwaaahhhh! I don't like filipino's!"
Boy 1 had confused the words, jalapeno's with filipino's, probably because he hadn't heard the word jalapeno that often. I was so glad we were in the privacy of our own home! I couldn't imagine what kind of looks we may have received if we had been in the restaurant.
Interesting, Boy 1 loves hot food now. Including jalapeno's. |
That is TOO funny!
