It is an absolutely beautiful spring day! The kind of day where you would like to sit out on the front porch and chat with friends, while you watch the children play.
So, why don't you come join me, here on the Front Porch! Here is what we will chat about...would you like some lemonade?
Have you seen the new HSB T-shirt? I'm so excited, my name is on it! I ordered mine from the Schoolhouse Store this morning. A whole bunch of my friends are on the t-shirt as well. It makes me giddy from the thrill of "knowing" all those people.
Do you use narration as a part of your homeschool experience? I've been implementing this tool in our schooling. It's a fantastic way to know what your children have learned, and how well they listened, especially if they aren't writing yet! Cindy Rushton tells you how to use the tool of narration effectively.
Quilts are a great front porch topic! My grandma has made hundreds of them, for family, friends and charity. I own a few of them. Randi is now covering Quilt Lesson #4. Don't fret if you've missed out on the first three lessons, you can just find SewCrafty in the Front Porch sidebar and start at lesson #1!
Homeschoolers often find they are comparing themselves to each other. When we do, we often feel we come up with the short end of the stick and think we are a failure! This is especially true when you compare a special needs child to a child without learning disabilities. Christine Field shares a wonderful story about her and her daughter.
Ever have one of those days where you look at what you hoped to accomplish in your school day/year and then at what you didn't? I know that when I do that it leaves me feeling like I should just go back to bed! It's so wearying to see how I come up short of my own lesson plans. Deborah Wuehler reminds us that we all need rest and the best place to get it is in Jesus!
What front porch conversation would be complete without a little bit of gossip? Jennie von Eggers is no longer doing the Homeschool Tip of the Day! That's right, and Cindy Downes is going to write the tip for the next four weeks. While I enjoyed Jennie's tips, they were sensational ideas, I can't wait to see what Cindy has to share with us! This week she gives us tips on how to go curriculum shopping. I love this woman already!
Oh, so you think anyone could write the tip of the day? Humph. I'm sure a lot of homeschool moms have plenty of tips to offer, but to take time to sit down, and write them out so that they are understandable and easy to follow? Well, why don't you give it a try then? Cindy will only be doing the Tip of the Day for four weeks, and then the Front Porch will need someone else to do it for another four weeks.
Have a cookie, you talk so much I can't get a word in edge wise.
