Every once in awhile you get someone crazy enough to drag a canoe up onto the Front Porch. Nancy Baetz is just about the best mom I know to do it! I like how she defines unschooling in her Unschooling A, B, C's. She includes a super poem that should become the Official Homeschool Poem, Paddle Your Own Canoe.
While you've got that canoe on the porch, why not have your children dress up as an indian, or mountain man? Dena Wood, who must be my twin sister in spirit, tells how a dress up box has been one of the most popular things in her home. Check out Be a Drama Queen/King.
In the Tip of the Day, Cindy Downes offers some nifty forms for keeping track and teaching your pre-schooler. Pre-school is the perfect age for dressing up and sitting in canoes on front porches! While an older child would just use the canoe as a...well... canoe, a pre-schooler will turn it into a motor canoe home, and want to know if he can eat lunch in it.
There has been an adoption here at HSB! Check out this beautiful story about Joshua. No canoe connection here, but Joshua's family did go camping after the adoption to celebrate! Don't just read the Front Porch article, click on over to Adrienne's blog to get the story from the source.
Well. I'd leave the house and go do something productive outside, but it seems the door is blocked by a canoe. Who owns this thing anyway? If it's not claimed by tomorrow, I'm going to sell it to the first frontiersman to show up on the door step.
