• Aug. 9, 2006 - Intelligent Cats vs. My Cat

Ferdy, the Conservative Cat, really keeps up on his politics.  I don't know how I would keep up with what is going on in the world if it weren't for him.  He is so politically minded that he is even on a fast that has so far lasted 36 days.  This hunger strike is against Democrats who support the terrorists in Iraq.  What an American!  (I wonder if he can have mouse & bird smoothies from Jamba Juice?  You know, just for the protein.)

My cat on the other hand...

... has no idea what a Hezbollah is, nor does he care.  I told him that Israel was at war and he looked at me and asked, "Will this affect my food supply?"  No, your highness, it won't.

I decided to show him that there are other highly intelligent felines in the blogosphere.  "Bandita knows how to read and blog!" I told him.  "That would cut into my nap time." was his response.

I decided to try a little reverse psychology.  "There's even a dog blogger and he thinks cats are too stupid to blog."

"Just as long as he doesn't do it in my house."

"Don't you care that the rapture could happen at any time?  Don't you care that people are dying?  Don't you care about anything?"  I grilled him.

"I think the water level in my bowl is low, are we having a drought?"

"We have mice in the kitchen." I informed him.

"I know."

"Then why aren't you doing your duty and evicting them?" I demanded to know.

"I might break a nail."

I give up.  I'm deeply ashamed to inform the masses that my cat is a liberal.

This is HILARIOUS! And, I believe your cat did utter those words...it sounds just like a cat. They are a liberal lot, aren't they? Mine is so touchy-feely, it won't even go after a mouse....how un-American! Thanks for the chuckle!!

I think my two Persians agree with your cat. As long as it doesn't affect them, who cares. LOL!!

Edited to add I do not fall into that category of belief ... just my cats.

Such a good writer you are. My cat is convinced that I am her mother and she is my newest baby.

My cat could care less about things also. Except the mice would be dead. He doesn't like anything intruding on his domain. Thanks for the laugh.

too funny............thanks for the link to the "terriorists", too.........hilarious. I don't have enough time in the month to blog "on behalf of" our 15 cats........but they are farm cats so they are all off being busy - but an occasional entry would be quite the enlightenment........I love all my kitties - but especially my Max - you can see him over at South of the Gnat Line - but also - our adopted homeschool mascot: Jacobs Academy Wildcats (what else?). I'll have to repost "the baby" - St. Simon La Rue asleep in the napkins on the kitchen counter.....

Great post!

I swear, my cat could have uttered those very words!! Of course, when we adopted him from the humane society, he was named 'Al Pacino'...that right there should clearly explain how much of a self-indulgent liberal our cat is. PrimaDonna, that one. We tried to hillbilly him up a bit, renaming him 'Cooter' (Dukes of Hazzard...OY!)...only now he thinks he is a dog, and frequently takes down our german shepherd in faux-fights. I kind of think he was always a hillbilly...just prettied up in an Eliza Doolittle sort of way, and all it took was being adopted by a larger pack of hillbillies...er...a family who loves him so!!

The politically incorrect ramblings of a sage rat den mother. As well as thoughts on adoption, special needs children, and My Lord and Savior.

About my Avatar: Tia Turtle is a character in a new book by Gena Suarez, "And Then Mama Said...It Takes Time to Learn to Read." Kevin Collier is the illustrator and he made me my special avatar, because yes, Tia Turtle is named after Me! (Okay, so I'm bragging. Leave me a correctional comment in love.)
