For this assignment we are to pick two people we admire and share what their gift is and how they use it. Then we are supposed to do the same for ourselves. These assignments are getting rather vain.
Person Number One - I have a cousin that everyone in my family agrees should have been Mary, the mother of Jesus. We also agree that if she were catholic she should be made a saint. She is that good. She is human, she has her pitfalls, but I personally think Mary would have been facing a strong contender if God had to choose among them.
At any rate, my cousin lives now, and praise the Lord we didn't have to wait for Jesus' birth and resurecction, because we'd still be sitting on the hillsides, listening to his parables, and I don't think a parable from today would be all that poetic.
So how does my cousin use her goodness? She lives with and takes care of my Grandma, she is a nurse and I mean top notch, not your, "I'm in it for the money," kind of nurse. She loves little children and she has witnessed to them in Sunday School, and other classes. She wants to be a missionary and has already done a year in some country I forget the name of at the moment.
Person Number 2 - My very good cousin's mother, my Aunt. My good cousin is soft spoken and ever the lady. My aunt is bold and strong, yet ever the lady. Despite the trials she has gone through my Aunt still completely trusts the Lord. She is very intelligent and uses that to unwrap fallacies presented to you on silver platters. She knows the Word and she knows the Lord and fancy wrappings don't fool her. Still, she does have hope for those who seem so lost to the rest of us.
My Aunt uses her gifts to be a foster parent to a great many children whose parents are in prison as well as to help run a farm.
Now for me - My gifts. I've been told I have a gift for writing. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I get gift block. I use this gift to work for TOS/HSB. In the past I have done various newsletters. Now I help my daughters with their newsletters. Maybe someday I'll write a book or two. I have a couple of ideas floating around in my head. (Don't all writers?)
I absolutely adore babies and little children. I enjoy helping the mothers at my church, holding babies, gettting plates of food for their toddlers, and providing snack bags. I'd like to do more, and I will when I see the opportunity present itself.
I think that's enough. Wouldn't want to get a big head.
