| I loved this post. In it lies the essence of human interaction--we must be aware of our own safety. But that goes without saying in any form of interaction be it a 'hello' to a stranger on a bus or a 'cul8r' on a blog site. We must always begin with caution and trust our Saviour for protection. We don't know that that stranger on the bus isn't a serial killer either. But does that mean we shouldn't communicate? Jesus said to go into ALL the world and preach the gospel. I'm sure he meant blogs too.
In answering your question on my site, I know the April conference will be taped and I think those CD's will be for sale. But to get them, you will need to contact OCHEC via their website in order to get one. I'm not even certain what the website address is but I know you can find it through Google. With the Kitchener one, I'm not sure if it'll be recorded but I'll let you know if it is. If not, perhaps we can work out some kind of publishing idea and I'll post the two speeches so that any homeschoolers on the blog can read them. What thinks you my friend--who may or may not be a home schooler but seems really nice anyway? | You brought up some very good points in this post but I have to say from what I have seen (well, in the Christian homeschool blogging sphere anyway), are genuine and sincere folks. My experience has been with real people who share their struggles and dreams alike, (not sugar coated days), who offer up a word of prayer, who share photos of themselves and their families. Even more than that, if our relationship to Jesus Christ is alive and ongoing, He will not allow us to be led astray. He says that His aheep know His voice and will not follow a stranger. Of course we should exercise caution at any rate but I see the blessings that He has bestowed upon the Christian HS community through the vehicle of online fellowship. He can and does give us discernment. But anyway, it's been a good, thought provoking post!!! I hope 2007 is off to a good start for you!

| Hi Tia,
It's difficult to explain things to people who can only see danger behind every rock. (yes, I have someone particular in mind for a particular situation.) I agree with the other comments you've gotten here. Everything we do, blogging included, should be done through the wisdom of the Lord. Letitia |

| I'm not really a homeschool blog commenter. I'm just a typist that um... looks for random things to type at.?
Okay I"m not good at this but anyway I get your post!! |

| I just read your blog. I really like reading it.
It is possibility that that people would pretend to be someone else online. I would be a Russian spy with a job as a model instead of a homeschool mom with wild kids and a messy house. I would be tackling government jobs instead of math problems and language assignments. But maybe teaching 5th grade is really dangerous after all. |

| If I could pick one thing in the entire world that I think would be the most super-fun character to portray to foolish bystanders, it would most definitely be a homeschooling mom of three boys!
Scandalous, I know! |

| Hi Tia! I appreciate YOU and all the creative ways TOS is encouraging moms, (HS teachers) and their families. I do not throw caution to the wind! We also teach in order to develop discernment in our children as well. For all the wonderful things God has created- the devil has a counterfeit- to mislead, entrap, and destroy. SO, whenever the sheep gather I am not surprised to find a wolf lurking in disguise! We did not participate in blog communities in general because we have so little in common with "the world" in general and do not desire to "capture their attention". The TOS community is a different story! Nurturing our children, training, and equipping them for adulthood and service to God leaves very little time for frivolous waste (like just driving around the block cruising?) so visiting with "likeminded" mothers (pilgrims daily blazing a trail through this wilderness) is a BLESSING! Spare moments are opportunities to pick up a recipe at one blog, pray for friend at another blog, pick fresh ideas like blossoms along the way!! Some blogs are as good as a family friendly hug! | You are right, I am not really me, either. :D
I have been offline for about 2 months - hard-drive crashed. I am so glad to be back. Liz (or am I?) |

| I saw that you added me to your friends list, and I wanted to make sure that I stopped in for a visit! I took a break from blogging for a while, but now I'm back and enjoying it again. I love all the adoption info that you have listed. I've had it in my heart forever to adopt--but it hasn't happened yet. I'm accepting of the Lord's will, but will keep my mind open to the possibility. Come visit me sometime! My old entries are gone and I am starting over--but I'm an "open book" so it won't take long to get to know me. :o)
It was great to "meet" you! Amy |

| SO TRUE.
It's actually been my experience (having met, IRL, a few online friends) that most folks are genuine. But there have been a couple who portrayed themselves as something they were not. You have to be careful and always just a wee bit suspicious. |

| That's why I try to post my reality, and not just the good things that are happening. I have read one particular blog that is all perfect and wonderful, all the time, and wondered if this person could possibly be real :)
Mostly I think we are a bunch of hsing moms trying to do our best and wanting to be an encouragment to others, find ideas and encouragement along the way. ~Kelly |
