| 1. I started a blog so I could have a place to journal my thoughts, but I have ended up meeting so many people, that it's become a place to make friends, get ideas, encouragement and support.
2. I hoped that I could be used to encourage other moms like me. 3. my blogging waxes and wanes. There are times when I don't blog as much, and times that I blog alot. I think alot of depends on the time available, and the demands of my time from the kids. 4. the times when I don't blog often, usually has something to do with not having the time to do it. Also, if I don't have a good internet connection (I am on wireless), then I can't really do anything on here. 5. Getting comments, especially when I am at my wits end and frusterated with the homeschooling, really gives me encouragement and helps me get my focus back on what it is important. I love the comments that I get. 6. I haven't gotten any comments that I haven't liked. most of the people I have met, are pretty like minded with me. I love that! 7. Sometimes. I probably should do that more though. 8. most of the time, if I read something that I relate to, I post a comment. I am really bad at commenting. (boy, I am feeling guilty now) 9. see number 8. 10. I Have one other blog that is a recipe exchange. I am still hoping that it will catch on. slowly but surely I suppose! 11. I do like to random blog. Either on mine, or a friends. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog? To have a place to share my thoughts, as motivation to keep writing, to be part of a homeschool community, to encourage and be encouraged.
2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? Encourage and be encouraged and improve my writing skills 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? Yes 4. If yes, why not? Because it was/is addicting and time consuming. I have some other writing projects in the works and don't have as much time as I would like. I still love blogging...just not enough hours in the day! 5. How important are comments to you? I confess, I love comments and too often use them as a measurement of how I'm doing in anything. (This is a bad thing.) 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? I've not given it much thought. I seldom leave (if ever) comments that don't agree. I figure a person's opinion is their opinion. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Maybe once or twice a day. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Sometimes time prevents me. I think I'll go back later and then I've forgotten which post it was etc. Often I don't post because I really don't have anything to say. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? It depends on how much emotion is evoked from that person's post. Time is also a factor. I would probably post more all around if I had more time. I generally try to post if the person seems to be going through a difficult time and I can offer some encouragement. 10. Do you have more than one blog? No. Where? 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Ocassionally; again time is a factor |

| I have math U See, and I like some of the approaches they use. After a while though, I got a little confused and bored with it. I do use some of their approaches still with other stuff. I kinda mix and mash it into whatever I am doing. Let me know how you like it! I have the red books. Maybe the other ones are different. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog? I didn’t really know much about blogging before Cindy Rushton encouraged the readers of her site to get a blog. I signed up last July and here I am still!
2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I want to keep a journal of my life as a homeschool mom and missionary wife. People are always asking me what a normal day is like for me. This sounded like an interesting and practical way to share with them. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? It is harder to post now that we are in the states but I can usually find time for a new entry every two or three days. 4. If yes, why not? 5. How important are comments to you? Comments are very important. It lets me know people are reading what I write. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? No, not really. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? A lot 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? I usually try to comment if I read someone’s blog but sometimes I just can’t think of anything to say. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? I comment because I want that person to know someone has read their blog. I think that is encouraging. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? Yes! Karen’s Kitchen. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/KarensKitchen/ 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? I rarely hit the random blog button. I have a lot of people on my friends list and I don’t have time for all of them, even in a week. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
Heh heh... um... b/c hubby asked me to get rid of my other big time-waster... www.PuzzlePirates.com... AND! ... I wanted to turn my attentions toward something more fruitful. Blogging is just that. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? Hopefully to glorify Christ in my thoughts, words, and deeds. Also, if I can make someone laugh or think or be a help to them, then I have done something well. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? No... just the opposite. I post more now than I did 2 months ago. 4. If yes, why not? N/A 5. How important are comments to you? I do get a little hung up on them, sometimes checking my e-mail inbox a dozen times a day just to see if I got a notification that someone commented. I've even considered re-posting earlier posts just to drum up more readers to read them. I haven't dont that, but I've considered it. Sad, I know. LOL 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? Nah. I like being agreed with. Though a good debate is exhilarating. I had one with Spunky several weeks ago regarding her opinion of Debi Pearl's book, Created to be His Help Meet. It was good debating, but I got too caught up in it and had to abandon it. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Well, my stats say that I comment a lot... more than I blog.... I even comment more than I receive comments. I'm a "chatty broad." 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? If it just didn't relate to any of my experiences or churn some desire in me to change or if it didn't make a new, defining point about something I hadn't considered. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? If I can relate with a story, answer a question and be helpful, or if it made me laugh, or if they are a child.... I try to leave comments on all the kids' blogs I visit as encouragement to keep writing. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? No. I used to. But we paid for it and then got rid of the service. Free is much better! LOL. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Both, but mostly off of friends' lists. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog? Originally to keep family and friends updating on our homeschooling days.
2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? See answer above. It has now evolved into sharing encouragement, insights, funny things about my kids, and occasionally our homeschooling days. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? No. 4. If yes, why not? 5. How important are comments to you? I LOVE getting comments! It's nice to be heard and feel like you are truly sharing with your friends. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? Nope. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Probably too much! 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Sometimes I don't agree with what someone says and don't want to start a debate or offend someone...especially if I already know that anything I say will not change their minds. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? I don't know. I usually have something to say to most people on just about anything and everything...like Jen, I talk a lot and enjoy conversation. Besides, it's good for friends to know that you actually read their post-- instead of them feeling lonely and unheard or something. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? homesteadblogger but I usually just lurk there. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Usually just hit the random blog button. I went off of the friends' list more at the beginning of my stay here at HSB...when people's lists were MUCH shorter! |

| 1. Why did you start a blog? ---- To journal my days -- totally for myself. I was shocked to find a comment, hadn't blogged for several days. I suppose my whole motives shifted once I knew I might have an audience once in a while.
2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? --- enjoyment, and somewhere where my married daughter, or in-laws could check in and read what we're up to. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? --- Yes, but it is picking up again. It was totally the holidays, and then getting back with school after the holidays takes a lot of work. Taking down Christmas decorations, getting things back to normal. We're almost there. Whatever normal is. 4. If yes, why not? --- See above answer. 5. How important are comments to you? --- It's always enjoyable to receive a comment, but I go long spells without one and that's fine too. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? --- No, I definitely want people to agree with me :) :) :) 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? --- I go through spells. Often, I am about to comment and something is going on here at home that needs my attention. Then I never get back to it. Sometimes I am able to comment often, but not as often as some of the lead commenters here :) 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? --- Time contraints, giving time to what I can most relate to and care to comment on. As I said, I am often ready to comment, and hear something horrible in the background (shattering glass? something falling over? someone yelling "MOM!!!!" 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? --- My mood, how well I can relate, my time constraints, my lack of brain fog. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? --- No, but I've given it thought. I don't think I have time right now for two. Maybe in about 12 years. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? --- Yes, and my married daughter will send me her favorites too. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
~To brainstorm, as a journal......to meet others with similar interests (and possibly advice). 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? ~To help me vent (if needed), get and idea straightened out in my own head (sometimes things seem easier to figure out after plotting them out by writing), and hopefully help someone else if we cross paths with the same concerns or problems. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? ~I am very new to it....so hmmm, not sure this one applies to me yet. 4. If yes, why not? ~n/a 5. How important are comments to you? ~I really like them....my blogs haven't been that exciting yet....if I had put more work and time into them like some of the beautiful ones I have seen by others....then it would be more important to me. Because I am still new, I know that I am not really seen by many. I am thrilled by the comments I have received up to this point though. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? ~n/a but I like when people agree....and as long as it is said respectfully, I can handle other opinions. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? ~sometimes I can't think of anything to say (brain-dead moments, LOL), but I try to say something when I visit new places.... 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? ~no reason why I specifically wouldn't post. If it is offensive I probably wouldn't. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? ~I just want to let them know I read and enjoyed it, maybe that it helped me in someway, or that I was just checking in. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? ~I have a yahoo one...but nothing written there at all. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? ~Absolutely....one of my fave things to do. Thanks for posting this....was fun (though it made me feel a bit dull) haha |

| 1. why did you start a blog? it seemed like a lot of fun. i had been reading other blogs for a while and i wanted to join in.
2. what did/do you hope to accomplish with your blog? i want to share my ideas, things that work, things that don't work, and share my experiences. sometimes it's hard for homeschoolers (me) to find support and advice from other homeschoolers, this seemed like a great way to do that. 3. posting: i post about the same. i only started about a month ago so the new hasn't worn off yet. i post on an average of daily. 4. -- 5. comments: they are important. it not only lets you know someone is reading what you have to say, for me, it is a way to find other people's blogs and check out what they have to say. 6. agreeable comments: no 7. i comment quite a often. i usually end up making about 3 comments each day. 8. what determines don't comment? if it doesn't interest me or i have nothing to add. 9. do comment: i guess if the post interests me, i can relate to it, or i have something to offer. 10. other blogs: no 11. i do all the above. there are some blogs i visit quite often and sometimes i visit new blogs. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
I originally started my blog so that I could keep my family informed of how we spend our days. It turned into a great place to meet some wonderful people. I still need to tell my family about it. LOL. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? To share my ups and downs. To hopefully encourage others and to learn from my mistakes. It also helps that this is great for an end of the year reference. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? I feel that I still post to my blog alot, but have slacked on the comment giving. I have been trying to visit friends every other day. 4. If yes, why not? I have a tendency to get 'lost in homeschoolblogger'. I start blog hopping and can lose myself in no time. So I am trying to do my blogging more at night. 5. How important are comments to you? I really like them. I tend to check my email throughout the day to see if there are any notices. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? No 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? alot 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? If I don't know exactly what to say, if I don't have any advice or if I don't agree with what has been written. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? I try and leave a comment on all of my friend's blogs. If someone is having a hard time I leave hugs. If I know the answer to a question, a story to relate or if I have just been there and done that, I will leave a comment. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? yes. Homesteadblogger. com/fireside 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? both. I get alot off of the front page..the last 100 posts. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
As a joint project with the kids, to help them learn a few computer skills and share their accomplishments -- but these days it's mostly my own rantings. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? Uh, vent my wild wanderings on someone other than my spouse?? (j/k) I wanted a good homeschool project, and an online community where the kids could e-relate to likeminded folks. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? It's up and down, but I don't keep a regular diary either. Depends on my real-life schedule. 4. If yes, why not? Well, I was kinda busy over Christmas... But now winter's REALLY here, so it's time to cocoon till spring. 5. How important are comments to you? There's a huge amount of encouragement in the things people say - or even just in the fact that I usually locate their blog from their comment and then get encouraged by their entries. Plus, I always learn something new. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? I would expect if people genuinely disagree, they'll genuinely disagree. At least, I hope so. I have a "debatable" nature, you could say. I realise that often people don't want to offend feelings, but hopefully they'll speak their minds. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Not as much as I'd like. It's a time factor. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? If I sit down to read blogs, it's often b/c I'm totally fried and don't have a straight thought in my head... Which means I lack the ability to put words together in a coherent comment-sentence. I still appreciate what people say, though. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? If they post on mine - especially if it's someone I haven't "met" before - I try to get back to their blog and read a bit, and leave a "Hi there" note in return. Or if it's a highly emotional or thoughtful topic. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? Nope. No time. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Friends lists, usually. DH is home on Friendly Fridays, so I don't usually get around to the Random Blog button. |

---because I like to write, and thought maybe I could encourage somebody somewhere, make someone think, or laugh, or groan... 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? ---nothing much, really... maybe to meet a few more people. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? ---well, since I've just started not too long ago, I guess it's stayed pretty much the same 4. If yes, why not? 5. How important are comments to you ---I love to get comments- it's the only way I know if someone is actually reading what I write. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? ---I don't get enough to know 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? ---sometimes 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? ---if everybody else has already pretty much said what I'm thinking 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? ---whether or not I have something to say on that subject 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? ---I do... it's at http://spaces.msn.com/members/lunenburgpuddin/ one at blogspot (http://maritimemama.blogspot.com/) I gave up on (too much html stuff for my poor little brain), and a yahoo 360 one that is just not what I wanted. Don't know the url, but the id is lunenburgpuddin. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? ---both |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
Two years ago, the kids and I accompanied my husband on his work trip to San Francisco. I wrote a letter about our adventures complete with pictures and spent a lot of time and money printing out duplicates to mail out to friends and relatives. Then I realized that DUH, it would be easier and cheaper to post it online, email out a link, and let people come to a website to read it. I went ahead and posted my letter and pictures on a blog and decided to continue sharing pictures and stories about my family online. I can write better than I can speak. I use to write long letters to my friends, but blogging has taken the place of that. I've rarely had a friend who would write a long letter in return... 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? Communication. Unfortunately it often is a monologue rather than a dialogue, because my original targeted audience, my family, rarely responds to what I write. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? No, I think I'm more consistent since joining homeschoolblogger, because I actually gets some comments from fellow homeschoolers, even though I don't know them in real life. 4. If yes, why not? N/A 5. How important are comments to you? I love getting comments, but I have to keep low expectations, because often I am disappointed after posting something important to me and I get little response. I understand that people may enjoy reading what I write, but may not have the time or words to say to respond. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? I don't care one way or the other...as long as I get a comment!!!!!! :) 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? I like to comment on other peoples' blogs, but their writing has to resonate a certain way with my own experience in order for me to come up with a comment worth leaving. For instance, if someone is blogging about politics, unfortunately, that is not a topic I dwell on in my thoughts much at this point in my life. I may enjoy reading that person's post, but not have enough of a strong or informed opinion of my own to share. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? See #7 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? See #7 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? I had a previous blog, which is still online, but I no longer post there since joining HSB. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? I read blogs on my friends list or on the 100 most recent posts a little most days, but I rarely use the random blogger button. |

| It looks like you've really got quite a few responses here! I'm going to read them AFTER I do mine, so my answers will be mine w/o influence.
I'm also posting a link back here on my blog. Here goes: 1. Why did you start a blog? Writing is an intimidating activity for our youngest son, and writing in a public forum is intimidating for me, so I hoped by pushing myself to do that, I could encourage him by example. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? Beyond setting an example for my son, I hoped to encourage others in their spiritual and homeschooling journeys. I feel a deep love for wives, mothers, and especially stay at home mom's living in our culture where those things are not appreciated for the importance that they do have. I know what it's like to be assaulted with doubts thrown out by society and by comparing ourselves with those seemingly "perfect" people, and I just want to let others know that with God's help they CAN DO IT! I'm nobody special, was public schooled, only have a high school degree...but by offering the Lord my little loaves and fishes, I've seen him do wonders and open marvelous doors for my children. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? I do struggle more with "fresh" stuff. While my heart is stated in number two, I don't feel I can park my writings there and I do feel the need to fulfill number one, which is stretching myself and being an example to my son. 4. If yes, why not? (answsered in three) 5. How important are comments to you? I really do like feedback. I love to hear that someone was touched, enouraged, laughed, cried, etc...through my writings. Having said that, I've also tried to stay focused on the "why's" of doing my blog and remember that even if someone doesn't take the time to comment, maybe it was just what they needed that day....and if not even one person was blessed, I still (hopefully) fulfilled the "stretching myself" part. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? No, LOL....I'm a bit thin-skinned...but it's another area that God is stretching me. I am appreciative though, when people write their disagreements in love and humility. I don't really remember any unkind comments on my blog, but I have had some recent hurtful comments in a group I belonged to. It was so amazing to me how two people who wrote me (and basically corrected me) could do it in such opposite manners: one wrote in just such an ugly way, while the other corrected my error totally in love. It made such an impression on my and I really want the Lord to help me, even when I write things that others might disagree with, to always write with humility and love. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? It usally depends on time, freshness of mind, and whether I'm sitting at the computer with food in my hands (true confession, there! ) I also really try to be sure that I'm writing from the heart and mind, not just off-the-cuff emotional response....I mean to say someone's little one is a darling off-the-cuff is no big deal...but when someone is crying out for comfort or encouragement, I don't want to be flippant with a quick knee-jerk response. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Often it's a time factor and sometimes, it's later at night and if I'm really tired I don't trust myself to make well-thought-out comments at that point. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? Many things: what they wrote is the usual reason, but sometimes, it's whether they are brand new and I'm not seeing any comments on their blog....there might be other factors as well, but I can't think of any right now. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? Yes, I have my timetoshare (health focused) blog here at HSB and I also have a blog at homesteadblogger where my username is newsteader. The timetoshare blog is to help me stay focused on pursuing good health in mind, body, and spirit and share those struggles/successes/pertinent info with other likeminded people. The newsteader blog is more for me to learn from others, although I do share things if I feel I have something homesteaders would appreciate, but mainly it's for me to learn the simpler/homey arts since we are moving to the country for that purpose. My takingthechallenge blog is my main blog focus and it's where I feel most free to blog about pretty much anything that's on my mind. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Yes...but it seems my two favorite ways to visit other blogs is through the last 100 posts and through my friend's list. Great Questions! I really enjoyed thinking them through and now I'm off to: A) read the other answers and B) put a link to this on my blog Thanks for doing this! |

| I have noticed the slowdown too, but I am pretty sure that I know why. It is a combination of three things, two of which can almost go together. The holiday season and New Year's Resolutions are two. Many were too busy to post during December. Now that it is January many moms have resolutions to spend less time at the computer and more time with family. The third is the addition of homesteader.com. The community is spread out more now. Not a bad thing because many of us feel such a homesteading desire it is nice for those to have a place specific for these interests. But it does mean that, at least for a time, homeschoolblogger is seeing a decline in postings.
1. Why did you start a blog? Actually, at the time, I was immersed in trying to help moms at my Yahoo group for homeschooling using Elecetronic Notebooking. I had already dabbled a week or so in the use of Yahoo 360 and found it more than useful for helping notebooking moms; I found I just liked blogging. I know now why I liked it so much. It provided something that I longed for - wholeness on the web. I belonged to many forums, but those forums always wanted to limit you to the topic of the forum. At one for curriculum zzz you couldn't express your exitement about artwork qqq. At the forum for art you could gush over artwork qqq you couldn't ask questions about recipee sss. But, in a blog, you can be your whole self. It is a place where you can be all of you because it is a place representing you. No forum lets you do that. I guess in a way, when homesteader opened, I felt a little disappointed. It seemed like that same 'you talk about this here and you talk about that there' feel to me. I decided to just keep one blog and 'remain Tammy' - one whole person. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? Initially, to help fellow electronic notebooking moms. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? I post as much or more now than I did at the beginning, 4. If yes, why not? 5. How important are comments to you? When you post on a blog, you are doing more than just recording thoughts for yourself, If that was all that you wanted to do, you would just use a word processor and save the files only to a hard drive. But with blogging you want to follow your interests and daily life experiences to the benefit and even influence of others. Hit counters and comments are two ways of assuring yourself that there is someone out there for the blog to touch. When I put my hit counter on my blog, it was really more of a html exploration. I had just gotten courageous enough to play around with customizing my template. But now, I find I look forward to using it to see whether a post is of interest or of help to others. Let's face it, only a tiny percentage will post a comment. During some stretched it would be easy to feel like no one was reading and you would feel like no one was interested. It would lead to discouragement. Having the hit counter helps me to see that though comments are few sometimes there really are people who are interested enough to come and see. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? I never have really thought about agreement or disagreement. My postings so not lean toward the controversial. Actually, if too many were to post aggressively, I would feel a bit of discomfort. I will admit it. I am a peacemaker and people pleaser by nature. Conflict can be difficult for me. I don't mind disagreement and discussion. But, the tone needs to stay in the 'friendly zone'. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? I read posts from my friend's list every day and at least a few times per week I will visit blogs from the 'Last 100' post list. I do not always leave comments, but I will if the post indicates a need or I feel I have something to contribute. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? I don't have anything worth saying. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? See answer to question 7. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? I abandoned the Yahoo 360 when I discovered Homeschoolblogger. I had only invested a week or two in that blog before finding this site. I liked the liiks and the community here the very first time I visited. It was a no brainer to move. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Yes, though not as often as I read the 'last 100' list. Too many abandoned blogs pop up on the random to do it weekly. I guess I hit the random button and take a tour of 10 to 20 blogs about once or twice a month. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
I started my blog in hopes that I can learn from other bloggers and gain some insight into homeschooling. I have a 2 yo and I am clueless about how homeschooling works. I also started my blog so that I could post different things that happen in our life. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? So far I have accomplished little. I have found some interesting websites and such, but still know little about homeschooling. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? I do post less. 4. If yes, why not? I just deleted everything from my blog in hopes of starting afresh. I felt I was coming off as a negative person and didn't want to do that, so I am starting over. 5. How important are comments to you? They are fairly important. I do love to get them, but I don't cry because no one comments. I would like to have more though. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? I don't think so. But I wouldn't mind if they disagreed. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Alot 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Normally, time. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? If I find I have insight or similar experiences I like to post, time permitting. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? Nope, just one here at homeschoolblogger 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? yes, all the time! |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
I originally started a blog to record the happenings of our daily lives that are otherwise all too easily forgotten. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? Well, originally I just wanted a journal, and a place to share my life with my friends, but I have found that since switching from Blogger to Homeschoolblogger, I have actually made lots of NEW friends. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? No, I believe I post more than I used to, actually. 4. If yes, why not? n/a 5. How important are comments to you? Comments are quite important to me. I like to know that someone is reading. I don't know why. (Ego?) I guess I just want to feel like I matter outside of the four walls in which I reside. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? No. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? I try to comment a lot. Because comments are important to me, I want others to know that someone out there is reading also. The only time I can't comment much is when I am nursing the baby at the keyboard. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Hands tied up (see number 8). Sometimes I just don't know what to say. Also, when surfing random blogs, I often find people that haven't posted in months. I tend not to comment to these because it is unlikely that they care to blog. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? See #7. I want people to know I'm there. I also post more as I get to know people more, or if someone has much in common with me. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? I now have two here. One health-related, and this one, where I post about everything. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? About once or twice a week I will visit a few random blogs. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
To facilitate my need/love to write. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? To create a "newspaper/magazine column" style blog that readers will want to visit to read just for pleasure. Also, to share homeschooling successes and trials as well as family and life experiences and trials that I hope others can relate to or learn from. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? No. 4. If yes, why not? N/A 5. How important are comments to you? I must admit, I enjoy comments, even negative ones - the neg's make you think - (I really need to think). I don't get many consistent comments like some of the bloggers, and that's okay, I just enjoy the ones I receive when they hit. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? No. I think all bloggers/writers need the reinforcement. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? It varies. I try to do this more - I kind of run in cycles. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? If I don't agree I'm not likely to be one to post a comment to negate what someone took the time to write unless they are soliciting both sides of an issue. If it bothers me that much, I'll blog about it and link to the blog I disagreed with. Even if I agree w/a post, I may not always post a comment if I don't have anything to add.......also time factors and uh, mood swings (a.k.a. hot flashes and menopausal moments??? who knows?) 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? Refer to Number 8 above 10. Do you have more than one blog? Of Course! Where? So glad you asked! http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Harriette (officially moving 2/1/06) http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/jacobsacademy http://www.homesteadblogger.com/southofthegnatline (new home of SGL) http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/jacobshollow 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Both ;-) Harriette Jacobs |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
I've always wanted a blog of my own. Homeschoolblogger is a beginner-friendly blogging spot. The templates are easy to use and the community is welcoming. I blogged off and on at another website, but the owner didn't care for my quoting scripture. She thought I was trying to "get the word out" but really, I was just trying to get it *in*! (I tend to exhort myself on my blogs.) But, since she had every right to run her site the way she wished, and it wasn't really a true blogging site, I thought I'd start a real blog where I could be free to be myself. It's been so much fun, and it's turned out to be a good way for family and friends to check in on us. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I have a mish-mash sort of blog. Sometimes I record the events of our day, including homemaking and homeschooling accomplishments. Seeing it in "print" gives me a lift. Sometimes I write an essay in response to published writings or comments. Sometimes I encourage myself with scripture or good literature. Sometimes I whine. (Heh.) Just a place to "jot thoughts." 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? No, I guess I'm a blabbermouth. I seem to have increased entries since beginning the blog. I love to write; it helps me collect my thoughts (which are ordinarily quite scattered). 4. If yes, why not? See above. 5. How important are comments to you? Comments are extremely encouraging to me. Who doesn't *love* to get comments? :) My dear friends and family are so encouraging and uplifting. I love leaving comments on other blogs, too, when I have time to read. Especially the ones that resonate with me. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? Nope. The pats on the back are wonderful. I wouldn't mind comments that disagree with me either, though. Any kind of comment (within the bounds of decency) is welcome. I gather most people on homeschoolblogger.com are basically likeminded, at least about homeschooling, so it's not surprising the comments would be in the "agree" column. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? I try to comment on at least one or two blogs every reading session. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? How brain-dead I am at that point. I usually read late at night. If I can respond succinctly or thoughtfully, I will comment. If I am worried I won't be coherent, if for some reason I can't frame the thought correctly, I sometimes don't post, rather than come across wrong. Especially if someone has posted about a sensitive emotional issue. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? Well, I know how much I enjoy getting comments. If the blog, or entry, really resonates with me, I want to let the author know someone out there in cyberspace is simpatico and their words are appreciated. Plus, there are some really great writers out there with wonderful attitudes and advice. It's like a community. Hard not to "converse" with such stellar bloggers when the opportunity arises. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? Not really. I haven't been back to the former site in a while. This one sort of took over my time. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? I usually read the updated blog entries from the "home" page, and I regularly check my friends list. I don't use random blogger often because a lot of "dead" blogs come up. I also read a few major-league blogs pretty regularly. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
I wanted to be able to share my home schooling journals with my dad and stepmom, other family members, and with some of my on-line friends. I don't think any of my familiy members ever read it - LOL - but I have enjoyed being part of this community. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I have no lofty goals; I just like sharing our learning logs and occasionally sharing ideas and suggestions. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? No. Until the past week or so, I have been pretty consistent. 4. If yes, why not? N/A 5. How important are comments to you? I LOVE comments. I find the support of my on-line friends very nurturing. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? Ummm ... know. I like it when people agree with me *LOL.* I am O.K. with people telling me they do not agree with me, however. Variety - of opinions and philosophies - is the spice of life. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Often. I generally visit the people on my Friends list - and at least leave brief comments - pretty faithfully. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Occasionally< I do not comment when I am in a rush. Sometimes I might have a different view on issues of politics or religion. As these are sensitive issues, I may not comment. I always remember the rule about not discussing politics, religion, or sex in polite company. :-P 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? I usually try to post at least a brief comment on each visit, because I appreciate people doing that for me. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? I have a web log at homesteadblogger.com, though it is not active. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Occasionally. | Hello!
1. Why did you start a blog? I actually ahve a few-I started this one because I wanted to journal my mommy/homeschooling adventures. I started my Xanga because I wanted to post comments on my SIL"s blog. I started my Yahoo one because I could and wanted to post attempts at creative writing-for my own eyes only. I think I have too many out there. I started one before so that my sister and i could write-but she never did , so that is kind of dead. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I dont' really know. I like to read what other people have to say-and I like to meet new people. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? Yes and no. 4. If yes, why not? I sometimes sit down to post something, only to forget or not have anything meaningful to post. 5. How important are comments to you? Very. It is encouraging to me that people read my blog-I want to write more in it. I like to think and I like to write my thoughts down...but I don't like to be ignored...know what I mean? 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? No...I don't mind either of them. (those that agree or disagree) 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Most of the time. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? If I dont' really have anything to say to them..or about what they wrote. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? Whether I just want to say hi...or whether it provoked me to think or laugh or to compassion or sympathy. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? haha! yes...xanga and yahoo...and i think i still have one at blogger.com 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? every once in a while. I don't like to run into blogs that people started-but never kept up with-you know-like a blank page. Sometimes, whenI hit the random blogger button, that is all i get. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
I started my first blog as a way of opening up my little stay-at-home mom corner of the world. In so doing, I found friendship among other mothers, and discovered that many of my concerns were similar to the concerns of others. I started my homeschool blog because I am in an unique position being a degreed teacher and teaching not only my son, but also the children of other families. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I hope to share my experiences, find friendship and support, and to share my ideas with others. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? Perhaps some, but I still manage to blog on my three blogs, (one here, two on blogspot/blogger) a couple times a week – combined. 4. If yes, why not? The busyness of school may prohibit me from blogging as much as I wish, but also because life ebbs and flows. Some days there just isn’t much to write about. 5. How important are comments to you? Comments are important to me. I’ve noticed that comments have dropped off some on my blog and that is discouraging. But I have to understand that I am like many people – we “lurk” that is read without commenting, because we don’t “know” that person, don’t have time, or aren’t sure what to say. I have to just trust that what I write is being read sometime. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? That never bothered me. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Sometimes 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Usually, I won’t comment if I don’t know the person, or if what they say has little or no relevance in my life. I also will not comment if I disagree, because I don’t want to start a battle. Blogging, especially at homeschoolblogger.com is a polite activity. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? I will comment when something strikes me – usually something I agree with. I will also comment on blogs of people I “know.” 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? As mentioned above, I have three. One here at homeschool blogger (ratona) and two at blogspot/blogger (www.gentlebreezes.blogspot.com and www.vjsurprise.blogspot.com. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Yes, I do at times, but I generally don’t leave very many comments. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
GoodFriend told me about it. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I had been talking to GoodFriend about the desire that I had to write and felt like the Lord was leading me to do some writing, but wasn’t sure how he was going to use it. Now I know. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? Uhm… well, I am pretty new. So, I am posting about the same…slow and steady! 4. If yes, why not? N/A 5. How important are comments to you? I think they’re important enough that I check almost immediately when I get on-line! J 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? I find myself hoping to connect with HONEST people, because that is what I try to be when I post and entry. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? See # 3 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Newbie jitters. I am trying to meet others and might like an introduction, but might not know exactly what to write 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? I generally am posting comments right now, just as an introduction, or thanks to them for posting to mine. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? NO. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Varies- sometimes I “hit” the random blog button. But mostly I go to the home page and browse most current blogs and go from there. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
The concept was intriguing. And I like to type better than write longhand, so I thought I might be more faithful with it than a regular journal 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I love to write and blogging provides a perfect outlet, complete with feedback. :) I also hope that as I grow and learn and discover things about motherhood, wifehood, and life in general, I can be an encouragement to others 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? Definately. The novelty wears off, and now I just use it when I have something really useful to write. 4. If yes, why not? See above. 5. How important are comments to you? Well, sometimes if I don't get comments on something I start to feel like nobody loves me. But I know that's irrational. :D 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? Nope. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Sometimes. I try, but there are so many blogs that I love, that it's difficult to comment on all of them consistently. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? My own busy-ness and lack of time. Or, if what they wrote speaks for itself. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? If thier post really touches my heart, or if they seem to be in a similar situation to mine, or....if they're having a contest. :D 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? Yes. At Blogger, and at writingUp. The Blogger one is so I can comment on other blogs. The writingUp one (with Google Adsense) is a pathetic attempt to make money in my pajamas. Not working so far. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Occasionally. I try not to do that because I find that blog hopping really gobbles up time. Thank you for the contest opportunity!! :D |

| 1. Why did I start a blog?
For a couple of reasons, first, I guess I am very much an introvert and I felt I should reach out more, ( truthfully, for fear I will turn into recluse and die alone with my seventeen cats! ) Secondly, because I love to write and to read! 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? That I could be of some encouragement to others, with prayer, conversation and laughter. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? Actually, I post more now, as time permits. 4. If yes, why not? 5. How important are comments to you? I love comments! It is nice to know that what you write is being read and its great to connect with others. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? No, I have never really thought of it. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Often. I try to random blog it and I add my favorite blogs to blogarithm.com, which sends me an email every morning with the blogs that have been updated. This is helpful in trying to post to others blogs. Lets face it, blogging takes time. A very precious commodity which few of us have! 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? If I don't post, is due to one of two things, nothing of value to say, or lack of time to comment. 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? Not yet, but another is in the works for our buisness, Blue Thistle Books, and I hope that it will be located here at Homeschoolblogger.com 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Yes, often. I'm always in search of someone that I can relate to, or get a good belly laugh! Also, I try to read and post on blogs that have few comments, for encouragement purposes. |

1. Why did you start a blog? Peer Pressure! I loved reading my dear friends blog and thought it would be cool. She encouraged me to start but of course I never could write as well as she does. I have always told her she should right and get it published. I would even buy her books and of course expect her to autograph it. The first book should be called, "Confessions of s Sagerat." 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I love to be able to get thoughts out there. I love the idea of not being alone. I don't make friends easy but this way it is easier to connect. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? I have always been slow. I have read that others make time but I haven't. I start reading posts and the before I know it I have other things to do. 4. If yes, why not? NA 5. How important are comments to you? VERY since I love not feeling alone. The problem is I haven't had time to really blog regularly. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? Since I haven't really written anything that they could write negative about I can't really answer. I do know if I wrote things and got negative comments I would not be offended. I know sometimes other people have said things that have opened my eyes to something I didn't see. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? sometimes 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Not really a blog that needs comments. Nothing new or insightful to say. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? If I have any feeling pro or con on what is being said. If I feel they need encouragement. If I have a question 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? Yes, Here 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? No I never have time or remember. I usually hit my friend list. I also have some blogs I have in a folder that I have been looking at but haven't made into a friend yet. |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
I started blogging when my husband sent me a link to homeschoolblogger.com last year. I had never heard of blogging; and, therefore, did a little perusing first. However it didn't take long before I wanted one of my own to ask questions rather than simply glean knowledge. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? It is something like a personal journal (strangely enough shared with anyone who cares to read it) and a reminder that it is okay to ask questions about homeschooling. It is okay to not have all the answers (big step from a perfectionist who is probably harder on herself than anyone else will ever be on me). I also wanted to learn some coding because it was something I knew nothing about. 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? I do not post as much as I used to. 4. If yes, why not? In the beginning it was very exciting to do something new. I really enjoyed receiving communication (comments) from other bloggers and I loved reading through others' blogs. However, I came to realize that a lot of my time was being consumed by my blog. My time management skills were suffering and I was seemingly "needing" my blog time to feel as if the day's tasks were complete. I decided that it was time to "step away from the computer" after that. 5. How important are comments to you? I really enjoy receiving comments because it shows me that what was read impacted someone enough that they would be willing to leave a piece of themselves behind before leaving my site. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? I love conversations that get people thinking...thinking outside the box especially. I love learning more about others' convictions. I love to see people honestly leave comments that reflect their own heart. However, I do like a goofy comment too! 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? I comment on others' blogs "sometimes". It is a challenge any more for me to find the time to read blogs or even write in my own because I have attempted to rearrange my priorities so. My husband and our children are in our first year of a blended family, moved to a new neighborhood, began homeschooling, stopped working, lay off, started home business, and following dreams of working in full-time ministry. It really is rather consuming! 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? A lack of time or simply not reading the enry in its entirety will often keep me from posting a comment. I also don't typically leave "small chat" comments so unless I feel I have something meaningful to say, I simply don't. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? Most often I will leave a comment when something touches me. However, I will also leave a comment if I feel that I have something to offer to the author in the way of God-given knowledge. BUT I always leave a comment when I see that someone has succeeded at doing something I have longed to do, or am currently working on because I want to ask "how?!" 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? I have two blogs now. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/miracleshappen http://www.homesteadblogger.com/caretakerscottage 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? YES! THat is the part that gets me in trouble with time management. Somehow I start off at my site, check a friend, and then the next thing I know I have taken a two hour journey through blogland... Edited by MiraclesHappen on Jan. 21, 2006 at 1:42 PM |

| 1. Why did you start a blog?
Originally I started a blog because it sounded like fun. I started a homeschool blog to see what others were doing, what they liked and didn't like. 2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I wanted to encourage others and being encouraged by others 3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? Sometimes. I try and post every day, but I don't always get it done. 4. If yes, why not? See answer for #3 5. How important are comments to you? I love them!!!! I'm a gifty person, to me a comment is like a little gift. 6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? Hmmm, I'm not sure this applies. I have a blog that is designed for discussion (http://politicalideologies.blogspot.com) and I love the variety of viewpoints/beliefs out there. 7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? Little.I'd like to do more, but I usually think my comment will sound "dumb", or I totally forget what I was going to comment. 8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? My memory. And time. Some days I have time to read a couple of blogs, but not comment. Some times also I don't know what to say. 9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog? Something in the blog struck me and I have to say something. Or maybe they commented to me and I'm being nice to them by commenting. (hoping they will comment more on mine.) 10. Do you have more than one blog? Where? Yes. I have one at xanga, the Political Ideologies one and one other I like to keep private. 11. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friends lists? Yes. More off friends lists than random blogging. I've found random blogging I seem to get the ones that haven't been updated in a very long time. (oooohhhh pick me pick me!!! I'd love a box of Oregon products!!! Pick me!!!) |

| Something strange happens when I attempt to edit comments I have already posted. My avatar disappears and it no longer says I am the author. However, it does say "edited by miracleshappen" - so strange. Anyway, it is mine! |

I thought it would be fun and challenging but it happened more on accident with not alot of thought. I came across this site from spunkyhomeschool and it said sign up for free and before I knew it I had a blog. I was even afraid to tell people at first.
2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging?
To learn from others but to also be an encouraging titus 2 type of person for others. I take what I write very seriously and take a great responsibility with it in regards to my husband and children. I wouldn't want to embarrass them.
3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started?
I don't post as much because I am trying to spend less time with it. At first I went crazy and I need to slow down. Other things were getting forgotten. I still haven't established a routine or guidlines with it like I should.
4. If yes, why not?
I think I answered that question above
5. How important are comments to you?

7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little?

8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog?
If nothing comes to mind, or if others have said the same thing I'd say.
9. What determines why you do post a comment on someone else's blog?
If a topic touches me or makes me laugh or gets me riled up.
