• Feb. 14, 2006 - Mommy Olympics?

This year the olympics haven't held much interest for me.  I just can't get excited about fit people racing, flipping, and twisting to victory, and to what end?  When it's all said and done what will they have actually accomplished?  Is a person considered accomplished because they have a medal?

Why not have Mommy Olympics?  Competitors can compete in the following timed events:

~Diaper changing: Change 1 baby, with no further messes to clean than the one in the actual dipaer.  Competitors will throw their hands up to signal they are done.

~Dinner for 6:  Make a complete meal as cleanly as possible.  Set the table and serve.  Competitors will be given extra points for the figure eight racing around the table and kitchen island.

~Keep a room clean:  Competitors must try and keep a room clean for at least eight seconds while a boy child charges about the room, kicking and snorting.

~Fold the laundry:  Once the laundry leaves the dryer, competitors must show skill in keeping the laundry from straying as they sort, fold and place in the proper corrals.

Oh, wait... my apologies, those would be rodeo events!  The only sport where the competitor still has to be the clown.  "Do that again Mommy!  You look so funny when your face turns red from picking socks up off the floor!"

This was hilarious!!! Thank you! I'm signing up for Diaper Changing...I bet I could win at least a silver, and I do believe I would have a chance for the gold.

Too funny! The only one that I would refuse to compete in would be the dinner thing...if you could see what my kitchen looks like when I cook, you would understand why. LOL

The event I need to enter is the "Find and destroy sock monster" event. I tell ya, I just bought a dozen pair for each child and today my 5yo came down the stairs with one sock, toe poking out, hands up in the air, "I don't know where my socks went!"

Thats just funny! Aint it the truth what momma's have to do in a lifetime of raising kiddos! I wouldn't trade it for the world. And as far as the Olympics go I feel sorry for them mostly. I do watch because I like some of the events, but to what end do the labor and practice. Only one gold, silver and bronze. If they win then what. What does their life amount to after that. What is the next purpose. They've done it all according to the worlds standards. I can't imagine the empty hole that is left when all is said and done. They spend their life pursuing one goal. How then do they live the rest of their lives? I guess thats what life is like without Jesus-empty. The stories that really bug me are the moms who leave their precious babies behind in order to train for months on end. They miss so much. It is such a selfish act.

LOL that is great I think we should start them!! I think the baby needs to be about 8 months old so they dont want to lay still and dont understand "lets help mommy"

LOL! How about cleaning up the kitchen? I don't like to do it but I can get it done pretty quickly.

The politically incorrect ramblings of a sage rat den mother. As well as thoughts on adoption, special needs children, and My Lord and Savior.

About my Avatar: Tia Turtle is a character in a new book by Gena Suarez, "And Then Mama Said...It Takes Time to Learn to Read." Kevin Collier is the illustrator and he made me my special avatar, because yes, Tia Turtle is named after Me! (Okay, so I'm bragging. Leave me a correctional comment in love.)
