I wonder if blogging will ever be an olympic sport. Stop laughing, I'm serious about this!
How many of you race to your computer each morning to see if any comments have been posted? How about when you come home from town? Uh huh! I thought so.
So, the blogging event would look like this. Each olympian would start from the outside of a locked door. The gun goes off and the olympians would race to unlock their doors, run to the bathroom, then run to their computers to bring up their blogs.
Next each blogger will read as many blog posts as they can within a set time frame, let's say 30 minutes. They must leave a comment on each post that they read. Points are given for style, grace, and content in the comments, as well as finger dexterity moving across the keyboard.
The next 30 minutes, olympians will have to write a post of their own. This is the freestyle event. Each blogger can choose from either humorous, tear jerker, current events, or advice. Extra points are awarded to those who can combine all four catagories into one smoothly blended post. The new rules for this year will give points for at least trying to combine all four catagories. There's nothing like dumbing down a skill to make everyone feel good about at least trying.
Finally, the next 30 minutes of the event will have the bloggers waiting patiently for comments on their posts. Everyone will be trying to look like they don't care one whit, but we can tell by their subtle body movements that they are indeed just waiting. They might be knitting a sweater and watching the t.v. but their eyes keep shifting to the monitor to see if they have e-mail. Others will attempt to read a book or work a jigsaw puzzle but they keep checking to see if the volume is working on their computer. The most points go to the bloggers that give you the best impression of caring less. Usually, they are the ones that distract themselves with mundane household chores, and surround themselves by small children to read stories, or go over the theory of relativity.
Although number of comments doesn't really factor into the point system, hit counters will be checked to see if anyone stopped by at all.
I can already see my future...I'm going to be a blogging physical therapist. |
