Just when I thought I had nothing to blog about, someone on The Front Porch threw something into my lap. Thanks Nancy!
1. What time of year do you do most of your homeschool shopping? March-August.
2. Do you typically do most of your homeschool shopping all at once or at various times throughout the year? Towards the end of the year, and then again towards the beginning of the school year.
3. Do you mostly shop online, from catalogs, at conventions or at local stores? Online and catalogs. Conventions aren't held in my area regularly, and the local stores don't carry much, or what I like. There is no actual homeschool supply store here.
4. How do you learn about new homeschool products? (friend, magazine, see them in catalogs, etc..) Lately, it's been here on HSB and TOS magazine ads. Usually, it's the "What's new" list from websites or catalogs.
5. Are there any areas where you'd like to see more products? (algebra, weather, grammar for boys, etc...) Any curriculum for special needs/developmentally delayed; Bible curriculum, not devotional type materail;
6. What will typically sway you to purchase from a particular company? (online sample lessons, helpful website, customer service, price, able to get most things there, free shipping, etc...)
Free shipping as well as cheapest prices.
7. How could homeschool companies better serve you?
Showing more pages from their curriculum so that I can get an idea of how the layout is, and if the questions would be able to be answered by a certain age child.
By alerting their consumers to new products by either mailing lists, or an area such as HSB Company Porch. It can take me months to find out about a new product/company if I have to wait for the new catalog, or magazine.
8. What subject would you say that you spend the most money on? History and Reading
9. Do you prefer things to be bundled together for convenience or seperated so that you can pick and choose? I love the option of both!
10. When you are looking for the extra products (games, learning kits, etc..) what is most important about them? (fun, hands on, simple, educational quality, easy to use, etc..)
Educational quality as well as durability. I also want it to have a Biblical worldview when applicable. |
