His Chosen Bride is a book by Jennifer J. Lamp. Well, she used to be Jennifer J. Lamp. For any of you that have read Sophies Heart by Lori Wick, you will love the real life love story of Jennifer and her husband Doug. (Sophies Heart is probably the only modern, Christian romance, fiction book you'll see me plug.)
His Chosen Bride is along the same lines as Beautiful Girlhood by Mabel Hale and Dear Princess by Mary M. Landis (Rod & Staff). While Beautiful Girlhood and Dear Princess are written more for the young teen, His Chosen Bride is written for the older teen, the one about to graduate, or who has graduated and is waiting for Mr. Right. It is Jennifer Lamp's belief that before you make that earthly wedding march, you are already a bride of Christ and should act accordingly. By applying Proverbs 31 as a simple young woman you will be learning the skills you need to run your own household.
I enjoyed this book, as Jennifer gives the reader practical advice as well as real life stories to illustrate what she means. Best of all it was written when she was still a single young woman, and was wondering if the Lord would ever have her to marry. Each verse of Proverbs 31 is broken up into chapters (later verses to follow in Book 2) and Jennifer defines the meaning of each verse and how to live it out.
His Chosen Bride also offers other great reading resources such as, The Titanic's Last Hero, and I Kissed Dating Goodbye.
You can find this book at Jennifer's website, GraceWorks.
