Mamaduso was having a contest, and if you were the winner you won a pair of her beautiful homemade earrings. What's the contest about? Naming her homeschool!

I still don't have a name for my homeschool. After eleven years the idea of naming it has sat on the backburner with the heat source turned off. I think it may be growing mold.

I like clever and original names but it takes me awhile to come up with them. I have to at least have something to work with. I would want a name that really reflects what happens in our schooling experience. Who wants to go to a school called, "Where's Your Pencil Acadamy?"

We could have bumper stickers that read:

Do you know where your schoolwork is?

Then why aren't you doing it?

School shirts could read:

If you can read this

then you aren't looking at your

SCHOOLWORK!

Every school needs a cheer to get students motivated. Ours would be:

You're in here

Your books in there

When mom finds out

She'll be a BEAR!

GO BEARS!

At least we have a mascot.

LOL Great post. Your school sounds a lot like ours. No name here either. But I love original earrings, so I might see if my mind can come up with something. Or maybe I'll go out into the web and see if I can steal something. I have no ethics when it comes to great earrings.

Our school name is Joyful Harvest Christian Academy. To be honest, I chose that name to remind me to think of the end result when I have "one of those days" where nothing seems to be going right and I wonder what in the world I've gotten myself into!

Oh, btw, we are Lighthouse Academy. Not very original, I know. But I gave it lots of thought and it fits us and our reason for homeschooling exactly. If I wasn't so tired I'd explain it all...LOL.

Oh, what a hoot! I love your post! Sounds so familiar . . .
The children chose to name ours "Saints Academy", because we were studying the Mayflower at the time and it turned out that our two ancestors on the Mayflower were 'Saints' (those coming for religious freedom), not 'Strangers' (merchants) - so a kids' pick ended up sounding rather good (and beat the first suggestion, from my two-year-old daughter, which was "Princess Snowflake Yummy School")
