Your son did a great job on these displays. Actually, I did know that the whole universe could be fit in a shoebox. When Marissa was in 2nd or 3rd grade, she had to do a Science Project. All the literature that came home was very specific... parents, let your kids do the project themselves. Marissa did a very cool project involving a timeline about exploration of Mars. She printed photos from the Internet, etc. She got to school and saw all the "kids" projects and decided hers wasn't good enough so she threw it out. No one ever found it. The teacher let us do another project over the weekend. When I went the science fair I was livid. I think Marissa is the only kid that did the project by themselves. There were at least two shoebox atmosphere. I think they might have bee to scale.

Oh... and I do love science. I have a masters degree in nursing and taught nursing at a college level. I had to understand chemistry and physiology pretty well. But, I will tell you, I wish I had had Dr. Dubbins book when I was teaching. Some of the concept I had trouble explaining are explained so well in the book, it would have made a nice reference for me. Marissa also understood most of the concepts which is amazing given her learning disabilities.

Ahh! I see something is definitely missing in our school. It has been a while since we have done any fun projects like this, and I know the kids miss it, too.

I hate that! Well, potius sero quam numquam!

And, did you see the Beware of Dog correction I made? (Duh!)
