Ballet classes

My little girl, Annalise (5yrs old soon) will start Ballet classes next week.  It has all been her idea, she wants to be a little ballerina.  I guess I did all these things when I was her age so I know she will enjoy it like I did.

It's not something I would like her to be very serious about and do for years to come.  I know there is a lot of pressure in that industry, especially on self-image being very light weight etc.

I would like my children to try lots of different activities.  The thing is trying to do only one or two at a time.  There are so many things to get involved in that the mums end up being that taxi driving everywhere to these clubs and classes.

When Josiah is a bit older, I would like to get them involved in something together.  Our local homeschooling group does Jungle Gym which is a bit like gymnastics but easier.  Also a local church does Boy/Girl Guides like scouts.  I did something like that with my brothers at a very young age.  It was great, going camping with Bible teachings too.

Like I said, lots you can get involved in and it all costs money.  I like my playgroup, $3 for the whole family even if you have 4 children, bargain.

Bye for now.... Lisa

Feb. 23, 2006 - A GREAT ACTIVITY

Posted by quietcajun
I strongly recommend swimming lessons if you can find an inexpensive place! It is a great activity for every age level and teaches an important and perhaps potentially life-saving skill. It is great excercise, improves coordination, muscle strength and confidence. It can be an individual sport or a team sport. The skills learned in class can be used for fun or for work!

I waited a long time to do it b/c I thought it would be hard with all five children, but they are all involved now and LOVE it!!!!

Apr. 1, 2006 - Me, Too!

I can totally relate to wanting our children to experience different things... We have five kids - with one on the way - and have tried to give them a taste of different activities. We started in 4H, but got a bit overwhelmed because we joined a very active group that knew what they were doing, and may try again. I would love for the kids to get some chicks!! (We have a coop, but haven't invested in chicks yet.) I would also love for the kids to learn more about the wonderful world that God created.

I hope your little dancer loves ballet class! My girls LOVE dance class AND gymnastics. My boys would really like to join Boy Scouts.... maybe in the Fall.

Blessings! ~Beckie

Be careful what you wish for, for you just might get it!! lol. My daughter started ballet classes at 4 years old. She begged & begged. She was dancing before she knew what dancing was!

She has dance for Princeton Ballet for 14 years, she is also a national champion level irish dancer, and now she is going to college, and guess what she is majoring in? You got it... dance!!

I do admit, she is a beautiful dancer. Her friends always make fun of her, because she just can't sit still, she just up & starts moving.

I hope your daughter enjoys her classes as much as my daughter has. It has not been easy, or cheap by any stretch of the imagination. But it is a gift. Just for the future, I will give you wise councel. Buy bandaids in bulk!! lol. She will have dancer's feet. Not much to look at, but create such beauty. May she glorify our Lord with her dancing, even if its just for a season. ~madeleine
