Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons

I'm planning to use the above-mentioned book to teach my girls how to read. Madison (my 5 year old) already has the basics down pat, in terms of letter recognition and letter sounds but, Olivia (my 4 year old), not so much. I have a large task ahead of me....

What I also plan to do with them is follow the Letter of the Week curriculum. We will do some beginning math and science, rounded out with daily Bible devotions, and reading aloud...

Seeing as how I'll have a newborn baby in the house while undertaking this whole new way of life, I will not expect too much out of myself or my children. I will lay off on the "perfectionistic" attitude that tend to have and just focus on doing what is necessary.

How does that sound?

That is what I use with my kids!! My 9 year old can read... but he sits with me and the other kids while we do the lessons and he helps them out! Even my 2 year old will make the sounds with us and is learning!!! I think its GREAT!!!! And congratulations on your new baby!!! I'll add you as a friend so I can visit you more often!! :-) Bridget

I used Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons with 4 of my children and my dear friend has used it with her two oldest (her younger ones are too young yet) and I definitely would use it again if I am blessed with more children!

About Me

This is a blog about my adventures in homeschooling my children. I have 3 girls ages 10 (public schooled), 5 and 4 years. I will be attempting to homeschool my middle girls for *at least* kindergarten. Oh, and I'm pregnant with my 4th child (a boy, Samuel) due in October. Life is guaranteed to be interesting.
