Monday, May 19, 2008 - Little Red Riding Hood
Hey guys!
Ok, so I haven't updated in a while, but for a good reason! We have all been busy with the Spring Gala! It went very well, all three of us got complemented on our dancing, and the first night that I took a bow in my wolf costume, I got boos from the audience.
It was great.
As I said before we did the story of Little Red Riding Hood, and Rebekah was also in the Modern dance Behind Her Eyes. In Little Red, Rachel was a beautiful butterfly, Rebekah was a sweet village girl, and I was the Big Bad Wolf. Grrr.
Mom was actually able to watch the performance one night from the audience, something that hasn't happened for a very long time, thanks to her ushering days at the old ballet school. However, at the other performance, Mom worked the curtain. The hand-pulled, never been oiled, gets stuck every other scene curtain. She did wonderfully, although she claims that at some point she was actually climbing up the rope, trying to close the darn curtain.
Arin was also a big help. She was also watching with my mom one night, but during the rehearsals and one of the performances, she was working backstage. Everybody loved her, and she got to be pretty well-known by everybody. She and Mom were also able to get some pretty nice (well, insofar as the butterfly and the village girl are concerned) pictures too!
Ok, so I'm going to have the photos in two parts. Today will be the backstage photos... everything that happens behind the scenes. Frankly I think they're waaaay more interesting, but I also know that I have some people who are dying to see the photos from the actual dance, so those will go up tomorrow.
First off, we have the warm-ups before we get into costume -

Then we have makeup, costuming, and all that good stuff -

"Where do I put those eyelashes?!?"

"Why must my mother put me through this torture???!"

Arin, trying on my mask while I put on my makeup.

Grrrr.

Getting ready

Oh no! What's the poor village girl going to do?!

Arin, the wolf wrangler.
Ok, there you go! Let me know what you think of our cosumes!
Cheers!

I love the costumes! The wolf costume, although I've heard how uncomfortable it is, looks great! Especially with the normal clothes via Arin!

Great costumes and beautiful dancers ..... yes, even the wolf, when the wrangler got her without her head! Lots of love to you!
