Planting the garden

We have planted most of our vegetable garden. We should be eating new potatoes soon for dinner. Yum!  But the chickens and ducks are getting in to the garden and eating up Mom's lettuce. Hopefully we will be able to put up some chicken wire around the fence.  For our bean and pea poles we used some nice "walking sticks" that we had no other use for. We also planted our pumkin and squash and zucchini between the rows of corn so they can climb up the stalk. Cool huh?

Also we have been picking dandelions and making jelly out of the flower buds. It tastes SOOO good even though it doesn't sound like it. :D

BUSY!

We have been very busy lately. Two months ago we moved to a very pretty farmhouse with alot of trees, a big barn and a big pasture for our goats. We also have a woodstove and a bigger kitchen.  At our old house we had no trees at all! It wasn't that pretty.    We're getting 3 new goats 2 girls & 1 boy. Their names are Minnie Mouse, Spot, we haven't picked a name yet for the boy. It's either Stonewall or Rocky. I like Stonewall.

Ysabella, My baby sister will be 5 months old already. She rolls over and can sit up for a few seconds. Babies really grow fast.

Our soap buisness is really big now. We have had 100 sales just this last month!  My Mom is a very creative person when it comes to making soap or anything! My favorite soaps are Brown Sugar & Cinnamon and Pure Chocolate Fudge. YUM!

Well I have to stop now.

Snow!!!

Snow is fun to play in, but it's COLD!!!   Sometime's Me, Ben, Nick, and Gabi  ( my younger brothers & sister )  stay outside for over two hours in the snow then when we come in we're so cold that we say we have frost bite! :D

Even though snow is very fun it can make you very MAD! Last night we couldn't go to church because there was so much snow, we were really bummed that we had to miss church due to the snow. : (  Today I was outside playing in the snow and the dogs started barking and I ran to see what they were barking and My cousins Sarah, Hannah and their two younger sister pulling the drive way and yelling "Savannah!" then they jumped out of their van and were all dressed up in their snow outfits and ready to play! But the funny thing is that before they pulled in the drive way I was thinking "I wish Hannah & Sarah could come over" isn't that odd?

Well that's it for now.

What I'm Reading

I love to read!  If I could I would read all day long!

Right now I'm reading The Shepherdess By Joan Jarvis Ellison. This book is a true book about a Mom that wants to do something different with her life, so she goes out and buys a small herd of sheep. When Joan finds out how nice it is to raise sheep she wants to have more, so she gets a ram and then waits for lambing season.  I think anyone who wants to learn a little about sheep should read this book.

Also, I'm reading The Old Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott. This book is about a young girl named Polly that goes to visit her cousin Fanny in the city. When Polly arives she is suprised at how glamorous Fanny looks and thinks that it is not right for young girls to dress so fancy and Polly finds it hard to fit in the city.

This is such a good book to read.  It is one that I would read again.
