It was during camp. The two units were Woodside and Lakeside. I was at lakeside that week. It was during the "Great Unit Games" on "Wild Wednesday". Woodside had four flags and would show off in front of Lakeside. We had nothing. Things looked bleak. Then we came up with an idea.
Some people gathered what they could find that made noise, a cowbell and an airhorn. A friend and I went and built two flags. We also got our horses ready. Some friends provided swords. Another made kilts for us. We got ready for the biggest show that occured during the "Great Unit Games".
A friend and I dressed in our kilts and mounted our horses. We got our flags ready and rode out onto the field while two people with swords drawn and wearing kilts walked in front of us. The Lakeside unit gave a loud cheer as we handed off our flags and galloped around. The cowbell was ringing, the airhorn was going off, and the crowd roared as we rode around.
We lost the games but it was one thing that I will never forget from my experience working there.
