Dec. 21, 2006 - MERRY CHRISTMAS
Hi everyone! I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and of course, a happy new year. I would love for some of you to share your Christmas traditions with me. Either ones that you have with your children or ones that you had when you were a child.
As a child, I remember some special things about Christmas. My Dad would read the Christmas story from the Bible. My Mom would make a birthday cake, so we could sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. My sister and I would not know which gifts were ours until Christmas morning, when my mom would reveal the secret code. Sometimes it was a special wrapping paper for each us. Or an initial somewhere on the gifts. One year, all the gifts with my name turned out to be for my sister and vice-versa.
With my family, we start our advent calendars on December 1st and count-down every day. We attend local Christmas events: a Singing Christmas tree at church, drive through the Christmas lights, go to Living Nativities, etc. We read lots of Christmas books. We sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus. The children are allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve, but we get to pick the gift.
I would so enjoy reading what other people do...so post away.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
