I'm loving this new curriculum. It's so endearing and delightful! The teaching lessons are easy to follow and build upon another. It's a wonderful curriculum for your three year olds who are exhibiting interest in reading and math (like mine is). As far as phonics is concerned, it seems as if they teach the rules first and have them read later. Since mine are already reading I'm going to just incorporate their teaching into our days. It'll be reinforcement for them. The way it's set up is to teach the blends after the child has mastered short words using short and long vowels. I've been getting started in teaching them blends on my own, now I'll have the help of this curriculum plan. There are some lovely phonics cards that come with the curiculum. According to the curriculum I'll be teaching biblical principles and moral behavior as well (which is the endearing part and so delightful). For math, I can reinforce and teach the math concepts and actual math problems that I've already started them on (eg. 1+2=3...etc.). There are wonderful flash cards for these too. The curriculum also introduces number families (which is something I haven't been able to do yet) with animals. I think my children will be delighted wo learn about each family through animals. There are stories and songs to go with it too! So we can have a quiet cozy time learning about the number families. I can picture it now. Just the type of "together time" my daughter was asking for. At the same time I'm understnading how to implement the Christ-Centered Curriculum (CCC) for K3's in our home schooling I'm also re-educating myself on the principle approach so I can teach it to my daughter next year. I'm hoping to seamlessly transition from one curr. to another. The one thing about the PA's Noah Plan is that it expects the 5 year old to be writing quite well already. DD will be expected to notebook which entails lots of writing. While I know she won't be perfect in it, She deosn't even know how to write all her letters or numbers yet. I'm working with her on that though. I hardly did anything with her until now because I don't wnat my children writing until four. I might start doing a little test with her at the end of the week. Since our Fridays are usually "let loose" days, this would be good to balance with. Probably just one line of whatever letter she's been working on that week. I'm still trying to figure it out. This CCC curriculum gives me such a good feeling. It feels so light and easy to handle. Not a lot of demand and gentle teaching to the children. I love it soooo much!!!! If ever a curriculum can be cute, this one is!!!! I'm hooked!
