Finally...good looking graphics

Posted in Fixin Up Schooldaze

Thanks to my computer geek (she takes it as a compliment actually) online friend, Pianogal86, I now have beautiful link graphics to add to my wonderful expandable friend link categories!!! YEAH!  I love the look and even participated a little in making the graphics...well I actually just showed her where to find the pictures and she put the words in for me. It took me a while to find the right graphics, but I persevered!!  Anyway, I had a certain look in mind and it feels really good to be able to see that everytime I go to my blog. Hard work does pay off! Whoo hoo!!!!Okay, so anyway, enjoy!

Tagging should be outlawed

Posted in Fixin Up Schooldaze

Here we go again. I've been tagged, not once mind you, but twice...with the same content!!! Is that even allowed??? Don't these people realize I have no category to put this in!?!??!! (I wish I could get into my other accounts *hint, hint HSB Head Honchos. I'm having problems accessing my other accounts* so I could answer this in my Loose Ends blog and link back here) Oh well, instead of petionting the cyberspace lawgivers, I'll just suck it up and add my piece:

Four jobs you have had in your life: Momma, childcare giver, restaurant worker, receptionist

Four movies you could (or do) watch over and over: Ice Age, Finding Nemo, Brown Sugar, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Four places you have lived: Bronx, N.Y.; Champaign, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Fishers, IN

Four shows you love to watch (or did before the TV moved out): Amazing Race, CSI, Way of the Master, Lost

Four places you have been on vacation: Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Florida

Four websites you visit daily: HSB, mail site, hotmail.com.....

Four of your favorite foods: whole milk mozarella, cheese stuffed shells, calzones, Cocoa Puffs

Four places you would rather be right now: in my husband's arms, on a warm beach (in my husband's arms), on a cruise ship (going to a warm beach where I will be in my husband's arms), living on a warm beach (where I can be in my husband's arms constantly)

Four bloggers you are tagging: I wonder what would happen if I STOPPED THE MADDNESS RIGHT NOW and tagged no one....

New Blog Subscription Service

Posted in Fixin Up Schooldaze

I have not been pleased with my Bloglet service so I've been looking for something better. I have decided to give feedblitz a try. All of you subscribers I have seamlessly changed you over to the feedblitz service so there is no need for you to re-subscribe (I like that option!!!). I received a test e-mail and I’m quite happy with it. I’m still trying to figure it out though so bear with me.

It's done

Posted in Fixin Up Schooldaze

It's finally over and done with! I have completed all Spring Cleaning on this blog....and it's not even Spring, yet!!!  I'm so relieved and I like the new look of the place.

Last night (I think) I asked pianogal86 to help me with some css changes to the blog. She helped me enlarge the font on my sidebar links and move the whole sidebar over (she's really cool like that and from what she tells me I can call her a geek!!! Those geeks sure do come in handy...).

I have finally moved every post to its appropriate place (either on this blog or one of my others)!!! That took a while. So now I only have five categories pertaining to our home school journey (plus Mind and Media) so as not to confuse anyone. Whew! That was my first big overhaul of posts!!! Goodness. I hope from now on I'll put them in their rightful places from the git-go...

I also added quite a few principle approach links to my sidebar. Since I'm starting to learn about it and still planning on teaching it, I figured I'd have the resources I'm using or planning to use up here somewhere. I'm hoping to help someone who has no idea what the principle approach is.

So, that's about that. Now on to happy, organized posting!!!!!

Blog "Spring Cleaning" Update

Posted in Fixin Up Schooldaze

Well I trimmed down my categories and erased lots of posts as well as banners. I'm trying to trim down in anticipation of my big principled approach debut (I'm buying James Rose's ACE book tonight). I'm planning on adding lots of PA links and banners and anything else I can find. This will be my main blog and it will only have our home schooling journey posts and Mind & Media posts. Everything else is on other blogs I've created. I don't know how other people fill their blogs with so much stuff but make it look so neat (like kellyque777). I wish I had a webmaster helping me or the time to teach myself html (I've taught myself some things, but the really spectacular stuff needs dutiful research), but since I have neither I'll just defer to other blogs so this one doesn't get too cluttered and hard on the eyes. This is supposed to be an oasis (hence the picture of the beach up there) and I'd like to keep it like that.

Early Spring Cleaning?

Posted in Fixin Up Schooldaze

I guess I've got the early Spring cleaning bug. I'm finding it necessary to clean out this blog! It is getting a tad bit chaotic around here. I've veered so far off the home schooling beaten path...

Anyway, things may look a little crazy around here for a while. I'm trying to delete posts and put them on other blogs, clean up banners (you may notice a few missing) and add links (my new "other blogs" section, for example). If you see something missing it's probably on one of these new blogs:

  • Violet's Homestead - This is where I'm putting all my sewing, cleaning and cooking posts
  • Persecuted Church of Christ - This is where I'm going to move all of my posts, banners and links about the persecuted church
  • Violet's Reviews - This is where I'm going to put all other book, movie, music and magazine reviews. All of my Mind & Media reviews will stay here.
  • Loose Ends - This is where everything else ended up.

So, I hope no one is permanently traumatized by my sudden and quick decision to clean up this place. It will take a LONG while for everything to be as I have laid out above. I'll try to get everything straightened out as soon as possible.

Follow up to my new teomplate

Posted in Fixin Up Schooldaze

Don't forget the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is November 13 (&20), 2005!

I forgot to mention my beautiful picture. I recently was able to take a wonderful vacation (until I started missing my dh, dd and ds after five days) to my home island of sorts, Barbados! I stayed at the Amaryllis hotel (I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. Just get a room on the third floor. I got way too familiar with the local wildlife while I was on the first floor. There was this crab that lived right near my patio and decided to surprise me by hanging onto my patio wall one night. Talk about creeped out!!). The island is beautiful. This is a picture of the beach I enjoyed looking at while eating breakfast every morning.

My new template!!!

Posted in Fixin Up Schooldaze

Hey everyone! How do you like my new template? I think it's a step up from that chocholate background. It served me well, but this is more my color (I LOVE PURPLE!!!!)

So, how'd I do it? I didn't!  Amy Kear (at My Smoky Mtn. Homeschool) just took care of my picture (if you notice in the original template the picture is supposed to be of two girls at a beach) and cut and paste my original schooldaze blog onto the new template! I love it. It's not my final and most adored template, but I am so happy that it's a step in the right direction. Thank you so much Amy!!!! You don't know how much you've blessed me.
