Thursday

Well, we are wrapping up the first week of our new school venture, and I'm so glad we are doing this! I really was thinking that by the end of the first week I might would be regretting it. It has been a true blessing, and my children and the others are so excited about it. I am so grateful to the Lord that He has allowed us such an opportunity, and a perfect place to do it. |

Back to School
|
I am a home school mom that has home schooled for 8 years now. I love everything about it, I really can't imagine the thought of sending my child off on a bus to a place where he would be taught who knows what for 8 hours a day. God has been so good to my husband and I. My husband is a Pastor, and we have such a wonderful church family. We have 4 boys. God blessed us with a wonderful home on the Blackland Prairie in Texas. We have a building beside our house that was used as a dog kennel before we moved in. We knew we wanted to use it somehow, but never really knew what we'd do with it. We have cleaned it up, and made it into a schoolhouse. This year we are teaming up with homeschoolers from our church, we will be having school everyday together. I used to own a cleaning/organizing business, so to me, this was a challenge I was ready to organize. We have 7 students, 3 teachers. We have flexible, yet strict schedule that we all have found to be good. This was the second day of school, and I enjoyed it more today than yesterday. I know this situation presents different challenges than homeschooling your own children alone, but I also see the benefits. Some people think too," This is too hard, and why would you want to do that?" Well, we are doing it for the cause of Christ. These kids need each other, and they need leaders who will tell them the truth. They need leaders to teach them God's ways as they teach them life skills to make it in this world. |
