Nov. 15, 2006 - So much going on, so little time.........
We are on busy bunch. The last few months have been busy, but so rewarding. Back in July we started our own home daycare. We now look after 4 llittle ones as well as continuing our homeschooling journey. This has been wonderful for my own children as they learn about caring for others as well as learning about having a business. Exhausting? Yes. Fun? For sure. We have also started using Sonlight's curriculum. It has been a wonderful decision for us. We are working through Core 1+2 with the boys (9&7) and Pre K for Sighlie. It is so interesting and the kids love all the history. We also started using Singapore Math. This has also proved to be a great choice. The boys have started 4H for the first time. They are in the canine program. This year they are learning all about the care of dogs, training and showing. It is great fun to see them working with their pets. It is hard work for them, but it was a great choice. Speaking of pets, we have increased in size there too. We now have 5 dogs and 3 cats. We love'em all. I wouldn't have it any other way. The kids really benefit from having them to care for and play with, and the companionship is great. We are a bustling home. We just recently finished our Christmas decorating. I really feel the spirit of Christmas this year. It will be our first Christmas at home and without a move interupting it for a couple of years. The military life is great, but we sure are glad to be home and settled this year! This Christmas will be extra special since we know that Mark is going to be deployed overseas next Christmas. We have to celebrate extra hard this year. Sometimes it is so hard to think about him not being here for this holiday next year. I feel God just urging us to be together right now, and leave that for him to worry about. I know that is going to get harder to do as the new year starts to unfold.• 1 Comments • Post A Comment! • Permanent Link
May. 26, 2006 - Another week is done!!
Well, this week was fun. We did some really neat reading out of the book: The Book Of Virtues by: William J. Bennett. This is a wonderful book to use for character study. WOW. We have been discussing self-discipline. Reading these selections on this topic has encouraged some incredible discussion on this important area. I love it when the boys become so engaged in a story that they can so easily spend an hour or so talking about the story and relating it to their lives. We talked today about how important it is to count to 10 or step away from a situation when you are angry. The story we read illustrated beautifully what can happen when we allow our temper to take control. They both were encouraged to rise above anger. Later in the day I witnessed them both use this skill. I love the time we have as homeschoolers to discuss these issues and spend all the time we need to explore together. I love that my boys are talking. I hope this lasts always. I just know that it would not happen if so many hours were spent away from home.
I hope you all have a great weekend. God Bless.

May. 12, 2006 - What makes my mother THE GREATEST Mother....
* She has always supported me, even if she didn't like what I was doing...
* My Mother raised me with the freedom to discover who I am...
* During the hardest times of my life, My Mother has always been at my side...
* When I was sick with pancreatitis My Mother (and father) took care of my children without any hesitation...
* My Mother has always been there to provide advice when asked...
* She has helped me through the labor pains of each of my children...
* My Mother took in my dear puppy (Sasha) when we could not take her with us, and looked after her for over a year...
* She has loved me through my ugliest of times...
* My Mother made my wedding day wonderful...
* Growing up, My Mother was always active in all we did and she did her best to participate in my interests...
* My Mother loved me even when I joined the army...
* Through all of my mistakes My Mother has always been my loving mentor...
I am so proud to have the Mom that I do. I hope I can follow her example of Motherhood to my own children. If I can I know that I will also be The Greatest Mother.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's at Homeschoolblogger.com!!
