School On Wheels

Oct. 26, 2007 - Freebie Friday!

We don't have TV in our trailer, nor did we before living in the trailer, but when we were staying with friends in BC, we discovered a new kids show on TV that the boys now LOVE.  It's called SuperWhy and it just came out on PBS KIDS in September.  It's a really good educational show that teaches early reading and problem solving skills while sharing fairy tales in a new and entertaining way.  The best part is, you can watch an episode HERE online or you can download 2 full episodes on iTunes!  So, you get 3 full half-hour episodes of SuperWhy for the price of... None!  Definitely my boys' newest favorite freebie.  Check it out!

If you don't have iTunes, it's another great Freebie!  Download the software HERE, then search through the store for podcasts or vidcasts that interest you.  There are enough free ones out there to keep you entertained all day without you having to spend a cent!  I have several I'm subscribed to for my boys, obviously SuperWhy, and Sesame Street (little Word on the Street video clips), Dora, Diego and Blue's Clues (short video clips of various songs from the shows), National Geographic Video Shorts (my kids love these - they're pretty interesting), Storynory, and much more!  There are even homeschooling podcasts!  I'm subscribed to several sermons (since it's hard to get through a whole one in church with Charles - he's learning to stay in Sunday School... slowly!) as well as some cooking vidcasts, news podcasts and much more.

Oh, and you don't have to have an iPod to podcast.  A podcast is simply an audio file you can listen to on your computer, burn to CD or transfer to an MP3 player, iPod, etc.

And if you like SuperWhy, check out the games and activities at the website HERE.

If you know of any good family or kid-friendly podcasts, please comment and let us know what they are!

Enjoy your Freebies!
