Getting Started

Well, let me be the first to say there is a wealth of information out there.  Homeschoolers are the most generous and creative people.  They share so much information and are so quick to help someone.  Wow!  I have been going from one website to another searching for "the best" curriculum that would fit Ethan and Joshua perfectly.  All of the information out there is overwhelming to say the least.  However, I am so glad to see so much rather then have the opposite problem.  I want a curriculum that is bible based completely in the word of God throughout every lesson.  Bringing everything back to the glory of God.

I am most impressed with the HOW teaching approach.  Heart of Wisdom is beautifully done, studying God's Word and God's World.  However, I am concerned that I will buy this 1st year deluxe bla bla bla and end up not having a clue how to use it or worse yet, being so overwhelmed I sit in front of this mound of stuff and cry my eyes out!

God is working in me in so many ways.  I rely on him to show me what is best.  The idea of growing with my children in Christ is so powerful I can barely stand not to get started tomorrow!  The idea of being a part of my children's life in such a profound way is both daunting and exciting.  Never having done this before and knowing it is so important leaves me feeling a bit anxious.  I have to continually bring the focus back to God and what God has asked me to do in my children's lives.  I will be deligently praying for wisdom as I am GETTING STARTED!

Just wanted to welcome you to the HSB world. Choosing curriculumn is very hard and like you said just as challenging to present it to our kids, but don't let it overwhelm you. The beauty of homeschool is that if something doesn't work you can try something else. Enjoy blogging. It's a great wealth of information and support.

HI!
I just wanted to say welcome. I am brand new to homeschooling myself. I took my two sons out of Christian school in January. They came home with all their Abeka curriculum and we are finishing that up. I'm anxious to get started to look for new curriculum for next year too! I'm headed to Mass HOPE a homeschool convention in Massachusetts here next week. I'm told they have a wealth of information. "Bring a suitcase with wheels" I was told!
Anyway, welcome aboard. I have found this community to be so wonderful and supportive. I heard someone call it "window shopping"-(going from blog to blog)-caution it can be addictive! :)
