May. 29, 2008 - Full of Bullets

  • First off, I always thought the spelling for bullet points differed from the spelling of bullets shot from a gun. But wanted to make sure I was correct and so I checked an on-line dictionary; it is listed as the same spelling.  There ya go!
  • I'm craving Fish Tacos from Berryhill
  • Either that or the deluxe chicken enchiladas from Chuys
  • I'm feeling fat!
  • Went to the beach yesterday - yuck.  I have never seen so much sea weed - gross!
  • Pete has a Plantar Wart on his foot which we are going to a dermatologist to have treated.  Have you any idea how difficult and painful it is to get rid of those things?
  • The dermatologist prescribed a cream to use between visits (it'll take 2 or 3 visits).  She casually warns us the cream will be expensive ... so how much do you think? Would you imagine $650!!!!  It's a WART!  Fortunately our insurance covered it.  Pharmaceutical companies - grrrrr...
  • Our Pastor's Wife came out of hiding to teach our women's study Tuesday.  She's not really hiding, just avoiding germs due to her bone marrow transplant.  She's amazing and looks fabulous!
  • Did I say I feel fat?  Blah - I need to exercise!
  • School's out for summer - yeah!
  • Got to go grocery shopping - what should I cook for dinner.  Any ideas?
  • Me either!
  • Astros play Cardinals tonight.  Rubber game - we won first, they won last night.  Go Astros!
  • Any one have exciting summer plans - can I live vicariously through you?
  • bye bye

May. 29, 2008 - Warts

Ah yes, three out of four of us have had plantar warts in the past year (not me--Yippee!). Many treatments later--most of them are gone. This is one case in which socialized medicine has been a good thing--no visible cost to us.

And I have read/heard/seen it work--that if you scrape the coating off an aspirin, moisten it and put it (tape it) on the wart, it will help to bring it out so the treatment is more effective. Cheap and easy. Bet you would have loved to hear that earlier. :)

Blessings,
Karen

Is the cream for pain? Or to work on the wart? I maybe didn't read it right. If she gave a cream for pain that you put on just before treatment, the aspirin won't work for that. On the other hand, if she DIDN'T give you anything to put on for pain during treatment, you could maybe ask for a prescription for EMLA cream. That does work, but is also quite expensive--if I remember right.

A bit confused now,
Karen

I'm not sure our summer will be more exciting than yours, but while on vacation last week we did manage to get stuck in an open field while tornado sirens went off.
Glad pastor's wife is feeling better.

* I love your bullet points.

* I hate the idea of $650 for cream. You might as well just duct tape a gold ring on the wart. I bet that would work and at least you'd have something worthwhile leftover when it's done, assuming you could get the goo off it.

* I ate too much tonight so I am with you on feeling fat.
