May. 13, 2008 - Harris Teeter Triple Coupon Event May 15, 16, 17 in North Carolina
This is what a true couponer lives for! Or anyone who feels the knows they are paying more money in the past year but getting the same amount of stuff for it.
Harris Teeter (HT) will triple coupons May 15-17. They will triple coupons with a face value of up to 99 cents. In other words, a coupon for .99 off will yield you a savings of 2.97. Not bad, huh? Now, there are not a lot of 99 cent coupons out there, but you can get some GREAT deals with your .50 and .75 ones.
An important note: You must have a HT VIC card in order to take advantage of double or triple coupons. You also will want to have the cashier scan your card before your coupons are scanned. The coupons will double at first, and then when all coupons have been scanned, the cashier should push a button that will take off the face value of the coupon once more.
One disclaimer: I do not know if every single HT in NC is tripling this week. So please confirm that with your local store before you plan your shopping trip. I believe right now it has been confirmed by some savvy shoppers (from savvydollar.org) in Charlotte and surrounding areas, Raleigh and surrounding areas, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Kernersville, Burlington, Hendersonville, and Rocky Mount.
HT will triple up to 20 coupons per shopping trip. They will triple up to either 3 or 4 of the same coupon in one shopping trip. (I cannot remember which, so check with customer service). The policy generally states only 20 coupons may be tripled per day per customer. Some stores allow you more than that. Some do not, but folks find a way around it. I would encourage you to ask the customer service rep at your local store what their policy is and then follow it. Some customers are rude, demanding, and sneaky...and it could have negative implications on us all in the future. So let's be courteous and play by the rules and keep these stores wanting to offer us extra savings a few times a year!
I should mention that HT doubles coupons everyday, up to a .99 face value (maximum savings of 1.98).
The key to doing a great job during triples is to combine coupons with store sales. You can still do well sometimes if an item is not on sale, but you will spend way less by looking to put the two together.
I will be posting deals here. These come from Faye Prosser and others at savvydollar.org (who kindly shared their work). I added a few of my own. I will post the good deals by section of the grocery store, as Faye did. So bear with me as I give each one their own little post or else this one will get really long! Stay tuned!

May. 12, 2008 - Pharmacy Gift Cards
If you are not getting the Sunday paper, you are missing out on great savings other than the regular grocery store-type coupons. Many stores (including Target, K-Mart, Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens and others) will include in their sales flyers coupons for free gift cards when you bring in a new Rx or have a current Rx transferred to their store. For instance, our local paper yesterday had a Rite Aid coupon--get a free $20 gift card when you transfer a prescription to one of their pharmacies. Certain restrictions apply.
I only in the last year started taking a regular Rx for allergies. But even before then, I would cut these coupons out and save them. You never know when you or a child might get sick. Or think of a family member, neighbor, or friend that might be on some medications and could use these.
