I edited this to add that some extra deals I forgot about...

HT is having a 4-day sales 9/11-9/14 and here are some of the goodies:

HT 80% lean ground beef $1.59/lb

Hamburger Helper buy 2, get 3 free

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese 7.25 oz. buy 2, get 3 free

Green Giant corn, peas, or green beans 15 oz. buy 2, get 3 free

HT elbow macaroni or spaghetti 16 oz. buy 2, get 3 free

***A note: Even though the HT buy one get one free items actually each ring up half price, many HT's in my area have a policy that you can only use one coupon per "bogo." In other words, if something is bogo and I have two coupons (to use one on each item), they are still not allowing this. This may be what Faye Prosser calls "your mileage may vary."***

Buy any combination of 10 items on any of the three "BOXTOPS" ads in this week's flyer and save an additional $4.00 instantly!!

Sep. 9, 2008 - Great Dinner Deal at Lowes Foods!

Posted in Saving Money

If you are even reading this, then bless you! I fell out of blogging over the summer. I began keeping my 3 month old (now almost 5 month old!) nephew during the day a couple of months ago. A week after I began keeping him, we got the cutest little beagle puppy in the world! And we are homeschooling. Need I say more? I hope to post deals more regularly now that I am halfway back to some routine.

I wanted to let y'all know about a deal that I am not sure is just for my local Lowes Foods stores, so you may want to check your area to see if this is being offered to you as well. The offer is only good through today.

Lowes Foods if offering a "Meal Deal." For $6.99, you get:
*a rotiserrie chicken from the deli
*a 12-ct. pack of dinner rolls from the bakery
*a 2-liter Lowes Foods soft drink (for those not from around here, that would be a "soda" or "pop" or "Coke" to you!)
*2 cans of 14.5 oz. Lowes Foods cut green beans or 15.25 oz. Lowes Foods whole kernel corn (mix or match-your choice!)

Not bad for a quick little dinner that you don't have to prepare!

Jul. 3, 2008 - Ice Cream & Soda Deal at Target

Posted in Saving Money

My friend Stephanie told me about this deal she just got at Target and I wanted to share with you. In her own words:

"There is a good deal at Target right now for soda and ice cream. Buy 3 12-packs of specially marked soda (A&W, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Sundrop maybe some others) for $8 then get a free Edy's ice cream. Go to a fullcup.com and print off $1 off soda coupon that expires on 7.5.08. So for $10 I got 6 12-packs of soda and two 1/2 gallons of ice cream."

So you would print off a $1 coupon to use for each 12-pack of soda that you plan to buy. What an AWESOME deal! Check first to see if this applies to your local Target store. This is for the Triangle area in North Carolina.

Enjoy your savings!

Jul. 2, 2008 - Angel Food Ministries

Posted in Saving Money

I am happy to share with you information about Angel Food Ministries.

Church host sites handle orders and distribution of food. A unit of food consists of a medium size box consisting of both fresh and frozen food that has a retail value of $60. Price of one unit it $30. They say in general, a unit of food can feed a family of four for a week or a single senior citizen for almost a month. These are not second-hand, outdated, or damaged goods. You can also order a specialty box consisting of chicken, steaks, or pork.

There is no limit to how many units that can be purchased per month. There are also no qualifications or applications to complete (folks of any income can participate). This ministry does participate in the US Food Stamp Program.

Visit Angel Food Ministries to see if there is a program offered near you. You can also see menus for the month and find out how to place and pick up your order.

In our day of rising grocery and gas costs, this absolutely is "a bargain and a blessing" as the website states.
