I started thumbing through the Saxon 65 book that I will be using for my son this year as I began planning our goals. We've used BJU since Kindergarten, and we did not finish the BJU 5 material from last year. So, I'll introduce a few final concepts from that book of that before moving over to Saxon.
As I looked through both books, I found myself starting to feel a bit concerned. After years of "easy" math, I have officially returned to the the level in which math began to be a challenge for me. I recall pretending to feel sick and go to the nurse's office during math about this time. As we know, the school system waits for no one, and so my fall through the cracks regarding public school math began.
Now, I was just skimming the book - not actually studying and learning the material - so there's no reason why it should suddenly make sense. But, this is the first time in our homeschooling experience that I've felt any sort of doubt about my ability to teach a subject. I'm sure as we go through lesson-by-lesson at a slow pace, we'll be able to figure it out.
On second thought, this might be a great development for my son. It will force us to really slow down and study the material together. I think we've been going a little fast for him recently.

I started learning math with my daughter last year. I never did good in math either. When I was in school and they put me in Algebra I was so not following it so I begged my mom to get me out of it. She did and now I will have to learn it next year when my dd is finished with her current math book. We have hit a few pre-algebra chapters and I am confused. I am not sure what curriculum choice I will be making for her next math book in one year. I feel for you.

Thank you for the youthful comment. From all the research I have done regarding me, I also had to research sleep. When you are on a inconsistant sleep schedule (due to your work) it will interrupt your everyday sleep pattern. It can be serious later as now you are tired and unrested but then the illnesses come and also memory loss. I took Ambien for over a year cuz with Fibro you cannot sleep, so anyway, I have permanent memory loss issues. I know you need to work but getting some information on sleeping so you can improve it would be a good idea. You don't want to end up like me. Although I am on a nutritional supplements for me condition and I used melatonin for sleeping. It is safe and effective. It is just what we already have in our body. I hope this helps so you feel good and rested. Life is so great to be wasted sleepy. Thanks again for the b-day words.
