And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God...

• Jul. 24, 2006 - Learning Hymns and Christian Songs

In addition to our daily devotions, I am adding a Song of the Week for us to learn together.  I recently found Hymns for a Kid's Heart on E-bay. It includes stories of the people who wrote the hymns and what inspired them to write it.  Because our FIAR book this week, Gramma's Walk, focuses on noticing nature and God's creation I decided to start with My Father's World.  BW is trying to learn to play it for us on the keyboard.  After we heard the story and listened to song on the CD tonight, EF wanted to pick a song to sing all by herself.  She chose Go, Tell it on the Mountain.  Here is how she sang it:

Go, tell it on the mooooouuuuunnnn tain

Over the leaf and evwywhere

Go, tell it on tthe mountain

That Jesus Christ is sore!!!!!!

(maybe from the cross?????  That's all I could think of...)

Hope it gives you a smile today.

Don't you wish you could get them on tape doing it that way! Sarah used to sing, "Jesus loves me ....they are weaks.." They other day she was singing it for us while Daddy played and he and I both noticed that she was singing it correctly now. It made us a little sad!

I think I have the books you are talking about. Joni Earkson Tada is one of the authors, right? We have the Passion Hymns, Hymns, and Christmas Carols. I think there is one more volume we don't have. We absolutely love them and it has really helped the girls to be able to sing songs in the worship service! Also I catch them that week singing the song around the house!

Set up that video camera before your next music class! In Him, Eva
