And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God...

• Jan. 19, 2008 - An easy space saver

So some of you are going to read this and say "duh!" but I am so excited that I have just freed up two drawers in my house and got some clutter under control.  One of the biggest areas of clutter in our home is on top of the DVD/VCR/CD player -  you know, the kids take a movie out of its case, set it on top, take out another case and another movie, set the old movie and the new case on top and before you know it there is a huge tower that eventually topples back behind the TV and I am scrounging with a plastic hanger looking for just the right Little Einstein video that Boy2 needs so I can get math done with Girl8.

In our travels at another family's home, I noticed that she had taken all of her DVD's out of their cases and put them in a CD storage case.  I went to Wal-Mart and found a case that holds 100+ DVD's for $10 and guess what?  I have a whole drawer and a lot less clutter.  A side benefit is that I don't have to stand by the drawer while the kids try to remember all the different movies we have.  They can flip through it like a book.  Today, I got another one for our CD's and I have another cleaned out drawer!  The only question is how much of a pack rat am I?  How long will I continue to keep the CD & DVD cases in the garage "just in case" I need or want them later?

Pretend that someone gave you the movie without the case. You would still take it right? I did the same thing a couple of years ago and have never missed the cases except when I wanted to loan a DVD to my best friend. So now I keep two or three empty cases of which I removed the paper insert so it isn't marked with a title which doesn't correspond. It has worked out fine! For the CD's, I did take the song list from the cover and put it in the case behind the CD. So I know which one goes there and the names of the songs if I need them. For a couple, I even saved the lyrics. My girls love to flip through and pick one out. It was also helpful for long trips where we took the portable DVD player. Take along an entire video library in a single case! :) Let em go! You can do it! :) Oh, I do have a section of school DVD's that I am keeping in orginal cases just for resale if I ever decide to sell them.

I know what you mean about feeling obligated to vote either way. I think about when the Israelites wanted a king and God warned them because He knew the negatives of that decision! I do pray for our officials even if I don't agree with them. I have always voted since I was of age, but I am seriously reconsidering voting if I cannot in good conscience support a candidate fully! But I will definitely pray for our leaders and for God's mercy on America!

I love your new slides! The family pictures are wonderful! You are all so beautiful! I also loved the one of your two oldest hugging after exchaning gifts. I think that was the best part this year for us as far as gifts were concerned. This was the first year that our girls used their own (birthday) money to buy a gift for Mamaw, Daddy and Mommy which they all picked out! I received a turkey baster, a small frying pan, and corn cob holders as my children scoured the Dollar Tree for just the right gift! :)

Glad to catch up with you again! In Christ, Eva
