And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God...

• Mar. 9, 2006 - CJ & I made bread from scratch!!!

Thanks to the amazing detailed instructions of the hillbilly housewife, CJ & I were successful in making our first batch of homemade bread!!!  She has been asking since we started watching and reading Little House on the Prarie, but I never found the time.

After feeling convicted in the area of discipline a few weeks ago, I sat down one night (Brent let me go out ALONE  woo hoo! to think & pray) and prayed that God would help me to see what He wanted our days to look like.  Then I mapped our a schedule for our day - nothing very strict or rigid, but just a flow of the day.  I have also limited computer (mine and the kids) and TV time.  I am amazed at the amount of free time we've added to our day to do fun things, like baking bread!!!  There is freedom is discipline!!

CJ had such a great time kneading the dough, watching it rise and especially eating it.  It just worked out (um, could it be God?) that it was done in time to eat with our spaghetti dinner last night.  So yummy!!!!!  We don't have much white bread around the house anymore so it was such a treat for me!!!  Think she would probably bake it everyday if I let her.  Definitely something we will be doing again, but I don't think we are going to stop buying grocery store bread anytime soon:).

Congrats on your first bread. It's not that hard, is it? And worth all the effort. Not only do you get to eat warm fresh bread, but your home smells heavenly! :-)

I was considering the same truths of discipline this morning. God is orderly, wouldn't he want us to be as well? God plans and schedules. Shouldn't we?
