About Me

"Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." Jeremiah 6:16. While there is nothing inherently righteous about the "old ways", we're finding that there are blessings involved in getting back to simpler times. Home educating was the beginning of a whole new lifestyle for our family, and we have indeed been blessed. I'm wife to oh-so charming and handsome Mr. Visionary, and Momma to seven pure country kids. Since we're all living, loving and learning together, our blog is to journal the saga of our (sometimes complicated) journey back to basics...for His glory.

Fellow Travelers

We live on a small farm, so the kids can run free and get really dirty. We're raising dairy cows, hens, and olive shoots in search of a healthier, simpler life that will allow us more margin to follow wherever the Lord leads.

man-head
Mr. Visionary
Age: 42
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our hero and fearless leader who guides and protects us; Chairman of the Fun Department; able to fight off six children at once; gently leads his no longer pregnant, but still emotional wife.
woman-black-hat
The Mommy
Age: younger than Mr. Visionary
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Wearer-of-Many-Hats, I am officially cast in the role of a "Homeschooling Mom". Unofficially, I am learning about life and the Lord with my blessings every day. I recently discovered that I love to write, and blogging fits the bill-it's just my speed.

sweet-little-girl
Literary Lady
Age: 13
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a job it is to keep this lady in good books. She has finished all the Lamplighter books, 40 Henty novels, all the Elsie books, and a hundred others. When she's not reading, she loves to build villages in the woods, garden, ride her bike with no feet, and be in charge. She hurts for the lost, and usually has tracts in her purse.
bluebackgroundgirl
Flower Child
Age: 12
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This girl was born in the wrong decade. Zany, carefree, and sensitive, she loves being barefoot with flowers in her hair, and never met a baby or critter she didn't adore. Her love language is hugs! She learned to read upside down on the couch, and hasn't been upright since.

boy-wheelbarrow
Engineer
Age: 10
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
His favorite gift ever was a roll of duct tape. He creates constantly, and often makes duplicates for his younger siblings. He is extremely sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and to his younger siblings, making him a great Big Brother. He is becoming a very godly young man.
boy-fishing
Dreamer
Age: 9
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He is often present in the body, but miles and ages away in his mind. This giggle-box loves read-aloud and books-on-tape for more dreaming material. Tender and introspective, he always has an entertaining story to share, much to the delight of his listeners.

little-boy
Little Napoleon
Age: 7
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Small in stature, but with a commanding presence: the others jump when he says. He still has a cute little-guy voice, and loves to cuddle. He is a master at the "One-More-Thing Game" at bedtime, and is "Far too big for a nap", but will go through 50 books during "Quiet Time".
gettingdressed
Doodle
Age: 4
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Never to be found without her baby "Grace" or her book basket, she "cooks", "cleans" and "does letters". She holds your cheeks when she kisses, and amuses us all with her constant chatter and commentary.

tinybaby
Dollbaby
Age: 21 months
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The newest joy in our life...soft, sweet, cooing and delighting us all with her delicious babyness. Who needs sleep when you have this to enjoy?
