This may be corny, but I love to play games... well, actually, I love winning games!
We have been playing Settlers of Catan recently, and this is my new favorite. It is in the German game category, but is kinda easy to figure out. It is really low-tech and involves cardboard hexagonal pieces, city, settlement and road pieces and dice, essentialy.
The goal of the game is to build a civilization based upon what is found on your land that you can obtain thru the roll of the dice. It sounds hokey, but it is actually lots of fun... especially so because I am beating the pants off the rest of my family on a nightly basis...
I think it is much simpler in theory than Risk, and there is some strategy to it. After playing it a time or two I think that most of the rules are pretty easy to remember.
There are also expansion kits to add to it for additional islands and conquests, but I don't have them yet.
This is just payback for not being able to beat Mr. B at chess all of these years, and only winning Risk by dumb luck... |
