See the Blue Sky

I just received a large order of grain and dried beans as I figured it best to stock up before prices go any higher than they already are now....

If you are like me, you don't necessarily want to snoop, but I do find it helpful to see how others do things so that maybe I might improve upon how I am doing things.  I always enjoy a little glimpse into the pantry's of others for this reason.... it's more of a, "I do this, and how do you do it?" kind of mindset...

So, this is my upstairs pantry with dried goods....  I have some gallon sized containers for the things I use the most, and quart-sized ones for those that I keep in smaller quantities.  I have very recently started using old milk jugs to store things in... this is probably not the best, but it was cheap and easy...  Then I just go to the basement to refill these when they are empty...

I have shelves in the basement to store the larger 5 and 6 gallon buckets.  I also have one larger container that is from the garden center as I couldn't find anything else at the time that would hold 50 pounds of rolled oats.... again, it was cheap and easy, and I haven't had any issues with bugs or other crawlies.  I'm saving the empty areas for potential items to be canned from the garden along with some more dried beans that I'll pick up later this week....

Looks like you shop at the breadbeckers, too. :) It's my favorite place! I posted a similar pantry thing on May 3: www.meinthemadness.blogspot.com

Your wheat posts are inspiring. I have a wheat grinder, but haven't used it for quite some time. However, I'm dwindling on the last bit of flour I had bought, so perhaps since reading your blog, I shall dust the thing off and grind some wheat. Thanks for the inspiration!
