Well it is almost Thanksgiving, last week we started off reading a book about Christopher Columbus, and another book about the Pilgrim's first Thanksgiving. Then we created our own turkey's with colored paper, and on each of the 5 feathers, the kids had to write things they were thankful for. This was a great way to help them understand why we celebrate Thanksgiving. Since we do not have a bulletin board area, we use the front window to display our work.
Over the weekend, the kids and I were busy putting up the Christmas tree and after their Dad got all the decorations out, we trimmed the tree. Our inflatable snowman is out in the yard. All we have left to do is hang lights on the outside of the house. Unfortunately we don't have the room in the house this year to set up the holiday village.
Today we are going to do our first project in our notebooking! It will be a writing project- their explanation of what Thanksgiving is all about. I am excited to see how it turns out.
Happy Holidays to everyone! |
