Homeschool Planning for 2006-2007...Me?...couldn't be!
I am not a natural planner :). I dream of having everything set in place perfectly but I realize "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." (Proverbs 19:21) I am glad that the Lord's purpose prevails because I wouldn't want it any other way. However, it's practical and beneficial to prepare (after praying) for what we will be doing/learning this school year.
My 13 yo daughter will study the following subjects:-
Bible study/memorization, algebra, science, history, geography, American civics, grammar, writing, spelling, vocabulary, literature, speech, logic, health, Spanish, Thai, piano, art, etc. (in case I forgot something or something else may come up)
My 7 yo son will study the following subjects:-
Bible study/memorization, math, science, history, geography, grammar, writing, cursive writing/penmanship, typing, spelling, vocabulary, literature, health, piano, art, critical thinking, etc.
My 4 yo son will study the following subjects:-
Bible stories/memorization, phonics, reading, listening to read-alouds, handwriting, simple math, piano, art, hands-on learning activities, etc.
We mix and match our resources to meet our kids' individual learning styles and interests. Grade level is not emphasized here. Their skills and abilities are taken into consideration more than their ages. We have flexible structure/routine. We take time to dig deeper when there's an interest. We read (a lot), research, create, experiment, write, memorize, analyze, apply, explore, investigate, practice, work, sing, and play all sorts of sports & games. Hopefully, we also learn and retain some knowledge, wisdom, & valuable/useful skills along the way :).
What type of homeschoolers are we? We're Christ-centered, Bible -based, mission-minded, family-bonding, character-building, & life-long learning homeschoolers. We cherish our togetherness; we enjoy learning and growing together as the Lord leads us.
What I'm excited about most is to see what plans God has for us this school year :). He knows the next chapter of our lives but we don't.
"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun." Psalm 37:5,6 This is it...my only plan: to commit my way (including my way of homeschooling) to the Lord and just trust in Him!
P.S. If you would like to know what we did last school year, please scroll down to the post titled, "What we did...last school year (2005-2006)."
