Sunday, September 7, 2008 17 Years of Blessed Blissfulness!
Today my beloved and I are celebrating our 17th anniversary. I never stop thanking the Lord for blessing me with the best husband/friend in the world. He has always been and will always be the love of my life.
He gave me this beautiful amethyst heart-shaped pendant and necklace (he already gave me in the past anniversaries an amethyst heart-shaped ring and amethyst heart-shaped earrings). He is very sweet, loving, and thougthful as usual. He knows I love heart-shaped stuff :). |

Thursday, July 12, 2007 Happy "Half-a-Billion Second" Anniversary!
When my beloved husband got home today, he had a surprise for me! He gave me a hand-made card that says "Happy 500,000,000 Second Anniversary!!!!!" on the front and has a beautiful & meaningful poem (that he wrote) inside. Wow...it has been (now...more than) half a billion seconds since that afternoon on our wedding day. Last year in June, he also surprised me with another unique anniversary. He is so sweet, loving, and thoughtful. Once he told me that he always wanted to treat me like a queen. Indeed, he has been doing just that. I am probably a spoiled queen :). I am extremely blessed to be his wife/best friend!
Not a second too soon
Not a moment too late
The Lord brought us together
By His love and His grace
(This is the first 4 lines of his poem (I won't post the rest because it's something special just between him and me ).

Sunday, June 17, 2007 A Father Is...
A Father is the able hand
That fixed your broken toy,
The arms that used to lift you up
And fill your heart with joy.
He's the voice that often taught you
The meaning of respect
Or coached you when you threw the ball
And gently would correct.
He's the shoulder you could lean on,
The eyes that saw you through,
The back that you would ride upon,
The feet that walked with you.
He's the heart of a Heavenly Father,
Whose love can know no end;
A reflection of Divine Teacher,
True Mentor and Best Friend.

"He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge." Proverbs 14:26
"The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him." Proverbs 20:7
Happy Father's Day to my beloved husband, the best...the coolest... the greatest daddy in the world!!!!!!! He is truly a man after God's own heart and his (our) children are exceedingly blessed. I wish I had a dad like him :). |

Monday, March 5, 2007 Congratulations Celebration, Cross-country skis, Craigslist, and Curiosity
On Saturday, one of my husband's co-workers took us out to have lunch at Thai Elephant (a fantastic Thai restaurant ). It was our first time there and we loved it! The food tasted authentic and the layout of the restaurant is cool (the chefs cook food in the kitchen area that is open for all to see). We ordered Tod Mun (fish cake patties), Chicken Satay (marinated chicken flamed-grilled on bamboo skewers), Tom Khaa Goong (coconut shrimp soup with mushrooms, galangal, tomatoes, and lemongrass), Pad Thai (fried rice noodles with shrimp, chicken, egg, bean sprouts, onions, and ground peanuts), Red Curry Duck (roast Peking duck in red curry with spinach, pineapple, and tomatoes), and Thai Fried Rice (flavorful pan-fried jasmine rice with chicken, green onions, tomatoes, peas, and egg). For desserts, we ordered Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango and Homemade Coconut Ice Cream. We also ordered Thai Iced Tea (sooooooo goooooood!) We had always wondered what kind of tea they used. Well, we decided it's time to find out so we asked a waitress there. Guess what...they use Thai tea mix. She showed us the package. On the way home, we stopped by an oriental grocery store and bought 4 packages. Now we can enjoy this terrific tea anytime :). The reason for the celebration at the restaurant is that my husband got a new job. We all are very proud of him and are excited for him!
We are also very excited about our approaching vacation before he starts his new job. During our vacation, we are going to try a new sport, cross-country skiing. My husband is a skilled down-hill skiier. Our kids have never tried any skiing yet. I have tried down-hill skiing once and it was not a pleasant experience. I fell but the worst part was when the skiier behind me didn't stop in time and the tip of her ski rammed into my bottom. Excruciating Ouch! Anyway, we were shopping for skis, poles, and boots for all 5 of us at REI. It took us a longgggg time to get everything that fit everyone. When we got to the cashier, we were told that we had to fill out (thick) paperworks for each pair of skis we wanted to buy (their policy). What??? We were all exhausted and my husband's stomach was not feeling good. We left disappointed. But the Lord had something better in store for us. We looked at Craigslist to see if we could find even a few things that we needed, especially the kids' stuff because they would outgrow their things soon. Well, from Craigslist...the Lord led us to find my skis and boots from a private party and all the rest for everybody at a ski rental store that is closing (having a huge sale). We ended up saving over $500 (from what we would have spent at REI)! We're so thankful!
Today my 8 yo son was helping me make a list of what to take on our vacation. After listing all the common necessities, I wrote down "binoculars" (for wildlife watching) and he added, "camera." Then I asked, "What else do we need to take?" To which my clever son replied, "Curiosity!" I don't think we will forget that one but just in case...I did write it down on the list . |

Thursday, September 7, 2006 Fifteen Years of "Rao Mee Rao" ("We have each other." in Thai)
Thursday, August 3, 2006 Walls of Wonderful Workmanship
Sunday, July 16, 2006 Everyday is special because of him (my husband)!
Today is my sweetheart's 38th birthday. He still looks 18! No kidding. He is amazing in so manyyyyyyy ways (not just the incredibly young & handsome look). He doesn't make a big deal about his birthday or any holidays for that matter. It's another day that the Lord has made (Psalm 118:24). He makes everyday special for all of us just by being himself. I even said to him once today that it's his birthday but somehow I felt like it's my birthday, too. He always puts God first and family second. He is truly "a man after God's own heart."
My husband is my hero of faith and integrity! He may not be famous and he has not changed the world (yet), but he is a real hero in our eyes. His love for God is real. His desire to please and honor God is real. His passion to reach the lost for God's kingdom is real. His personal relationship with Jesus is real. His reverence for our Holy God is real. His obedience to God is real. His pursuit of memorizing, studying, and understanding God's Word is real. His zeal for Godliness is real. His compassion for others is real. He breathes and lives what he preaches (he's not a preacher by profession, but he loves to talk about God and the Bible). "But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all Your deeds." Psalm 73:28--That's my hubby. He is also the most giving/generous man I've ever known. His thought is this, "Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You." (Psalm 73:25) Today the sermon at church was about us (Christians) being salt and light in the world (Matthew 5:13-16). Well, I think my husband is very salty and very bright, indeed :).
When I read the following Bible verses, I think of my hero hubby.
"The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip." Psalm 37:30-31 My husband is a wise, just, and righteous man.
"The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him." Proverbs 20:7 Our children are especially blessed! And I am a very blessed wife!
In addition, my husband is a prayer warrior, a cheerful giver, a humble servant of Christ, a loving & faithful husband, a superb daddy, a Godly leader, a hard-working provider, a strong & capable protector, a talented piano player and composer , a judicious civil engineer, a kind & trustworthy gentleman, an excellent sportsman (basketball, baseball, ping-pong, golfing, soccer, etc.), a hard-to-beat chess player, an intelligent debater, a witty & funny entertainer, a natural linguist, an extremely honest man, a terrific tea & coffee maker, a daring juggler (juggling mangoes, eggs, and such) and lots...lots more. Did I mention that he's amazing? He's by no means "perfect." He's just our real, amazing hero!

Wednesday, June 21, 2006 Unique Anniversary!!!!!!!
This evening my hon surprised me when he came home. He gave me a bouquet of 14 beautiful orange roses!
The occasion? According to my mathematically talented hubby, it has been seven million, seven hundred seventy-seven thousand, seven hundred seventy-seven minutes (7,777,777 minutes) since our wedding. Try to say that number seven times fast . Wow...what a unique anniversary! My hon is super sweet, thoughtful, and romantic, isn't he? I'm truly blessed!!!!!!!
P.S. For those who are wondering how many years those minutes are equal to, perhaps you can give your kids this math problem to solve :).
