I Know Christ...Hope You Do, Too!

Posted in Poems to Ponder

          I Know Christ (by Margaret E. Clarkson)

I do not know tomorrow's way,

If dark or gladsome it may be;

But I know Christ, and come what may,

I know that He abides with me.

I do not know what may befall

Of grief or gladness, peace or pain;

But I know Christ, and through it all

I know His presence will sustain.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While the politics is polluted, the economy is erratic, the culture is corrupted, Christ is my Redeemer, Rock, and Refuge.  Knowing Jesus...there is no greater thing!

Let's make everyday Thanksgiving day!

Posted in Poems to Ponder

                                 Thanksgiving

Oh precious Father, as we bow

Before Thy throne today,

We count the many blessings

Thou hast showered upon our way.

The comfort of our humble homes

Our health and happiness,

The strength provided for each day

To meet the strain and stress.

We thank Thee for Thy precious Son

Who brought salvation free,

And for this mighty land of ours,

A land of liberty!

So, Lord, help us to give Thee thanks

For all that we hold dear,

Not only on Thanksgiving Day

But each day of the year.

                                                                                            ~Unknown

"We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, for Your Name is near; men tell of Your wonderful deeds." Psalm 75:1

Happy Independence Day!

Land of the Free because of the Brave  (from a bumper sticker)

        FREEDOM

Freedom is a breath of air,

Pine-scented, or salty like the sea;

Freedom is a field new-plowed...

Furrows of democracy!

Freedom is a forest,

Trees tall and straight as men!

Freedom is a printing press...

The power of the pen!

Freedom is a country church,

A cathedral's stately spire;

Freedom is a spirit

That can set the soul on fire!

Freedom is a man's birthright,

A sacred, living rampart,

The pulsebeat of humanity...

The throb of a nation's heart!

                                         ~Clara Smith Reber

"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time." Thomas Jefferson

"A country cannot subsist well without liberty, nor liberty without virtue." Daniel Webster

"If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

In 2001, a group of distinquished actors/actresses performed a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence inside Independence Hall.  You can watch the video here.  It's really cool!

Would you like to take a quick trip around America?  Check this video of U.S. states out!  It's so beautiful.  God's creation is stunning!  Enjoy!

T-I-M-E

Posted in Poems to Ponder
                        No Time For God

You've time to build houses, and in them dwell.
And time to do business--to buy and sell;
But none for repentance, or deep earnest prayer;
To seek your salvation you've no time to spare.

You've time for earth's pleasures, for frolic and fun,
For her glittering treasures, how quickly you run;
But care not to seek the fair mansion above,
The favor of God or the gift of His love.

You've time to take voyages over the sea,
And time to take in the world's jubilee;
But soon your bright hopes will be lost in the gloom
Of the cold, dark river of death and the tomb.

You've time to resort to the mountain and glen;
And time to gain knowledge from books and from men;
Yet no time to search for the wisdom of God,
But what of your soul when you're under the sod?

For time will not linger when helpless you lie,
Staring death in the face, you will take time to die.
Then what of the judgement--pause, think, I implore!
For time will be lost on eternity's shore.

God Answers Prayer

Posted in Poems to Ponder
          God Answers Prayer

        I know not by what methods rare,
        But this I know, God answers prayer.
        I know that He has given His word,
        Which tells me prayer is always heard,
        And will be answered, soon or late;
        And so I pray, and calmly wait.

        I know not if the blessing sought
        Will come in just the way I thought,
        But leave my prayers with Him alone,
        Whose will is wiser than my own,
        Assured that He will grant my quest,
        Or send some answer far more blest.

This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." 1 John 5:14

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

"If your troubles aren't big enough to pray about, then they certainly aren't big enough to worry and fret about."  Unknown

"If your day is hemmed in prayer, it is less likely to unravel."  Unknown

Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?" Corrie Ten Boom
