What Did We Do?!?! -- continued!

Posted on Sep. 12, 2009 in Farmgirl Fun

If you have not seen my first post on this and want to see it go here

Well, what happend is this.......Remember in Jessica's post about the Germen Shepard dog that has came to stay (hopefully), how she told you about the goose's neck being in the dog's mouth? It so happens that "King" got in the goat pen again, and got the poor goose's neck in his mouth. He was being SO BAD and this sight was terrible, so terrible that we called the police!!!!! This terrible dog is now locked up and behind bars!!!!!!

Do you believe me?!?!  Well, that's not the true story! Here is the true story........

Once upon a time, long, long ago,(like September 9th 2009) in a place somewhere on planet earth, there was this girl making supper (me). She looked out the kitchen window and thought she saw a white car, but she is forever doing that and it ends up there is not a car at all. So she thought "I'm probably just seeing things again" but she was going to look again in a bit just in case. But before she got the chance, one of her sisters said "someone's here". She looked out the window and lo and behold! What do you think she saw! This is what she saw...minus the people...............

Then she starts saying "there is a State Trooper here" and wondering where Daddy was so he could answer the door! Someone had told Daddy, or else he heard her sort of going nuts. So Daddy answered the door......thing is, he knows what this is all about!  This State Trooper  was just stopping by to pick up something Daddy had for him. Daddy knows him because he has done work for him before. The younger children went outside with Daddy, I thinks the boys really enjoyed it. The State Trooper let them sit in his car (only Isaiah did) he also put his lights and siren  on for them. I wonder what the neighbors thought?  We heard later that one of our neighbors (teasing, of course!) made up a story and told his wife that the state trooper turned on his lights, put someone in the backseat, and that our other neighbor heard the siren and headed for the cornfield .

So thus conludes my story........ now you don't have to be curious anymore! :D

Hope you enjoyed my post!!!!

Creation Museum

Posted on Aug. 26, 2009 in Farmgirl Fun

And finally, our Creation Museum post! :-)  We had quite the fun time last weekend! (August 21-22)  Each of us is going to do a bit of this post...so you'll have different stories and views on it!

This picture was taken at the Creation Museum garden in front of one of the waterfalls.

 ~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~Jessica~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~

My two very favorite parts about the Creation Museum were the planetarium, and the Noah's Ark rooms : )  They were amazing!  The whole museum was amazing .

The first day, we were up and ready to go out the door by 8:30 a.m.  Then the long drive began!  It took us about 5 hours or so, with rest stops and everything, which wasn't too bad : )  Some of the girls played a "license plate game", and kept track of how many license plates they saw of each state.  It was so interesting how many plates you'd see in a "short" 5 hour trip!

Florida   3

Michigan   8

South Carolina   2

North Carolina   4

Ohio   74

Tennesee   11

Maine 1

Wisconsin   4

Oregon   1

Illinois  15

Kentucky   93

Iowa   2

Texas   5

Indiana   76

Virginia   1

West Virginia   4

Pennsylvania   1

Massachusetts   1

Minnesota   4

Oklahoma   2

Missouri   3

Nebraska   1

New Jersey   2

Georgia   3

California   3

Utah   1

Twenty-seven states, plus a couple from Ontario, Canada : )

When we finally got there, the man who checked us in was teasing us that we would be easy to track down, since we were all matching .    When we went to Ci Ci's pizza, I was trying not to crack up when I saw a lot of the people seated by the windows, staring at us .  It is always so funny to see them do that!  But then, I'd probably do the same thing if I saw another family all matching!  We met a family at Ci Ci's that we had seen at the museum, and they had 7 boys and 2 girls---the exact opposite of us!  Only not quite in the same order : D  One of the girls told her mom, "Did you see that family that all wore matching jumpers?!"  and her 13 year old brother said, "What? The one with the six million girls?!"

Once we actually got to the museum, I was looking at this pretty waterfall and was startled to see a person up by it.  My first thought was, "What's someone doing up there?"  But, it was this animatronic girl : D

After watching the planetarium show, we started the Creation walk, and got all the way to the Noah's Ark room, when we decided to go see the "Men in White" at the special effects theatre : )  That was so much fun!  We also looked around at the bookstore but didn't buy anything the first day.   The gardens were SO pretty!  I think the suspension bridge was my favorite one of them all : )  Unfortunately, that bridge was closed on Saturday, so we were happy that we had gone on it the day before.

In the picture below is the sign for a plant : )   The name "Purple Pickerelweed" tickled me : D  I don't know why, but I just like out of the ordinary names like that that make you smile : )  The flowers really were purple, but they're not in the picture.

And speaking of signs...I saw two others that tickled me : )

"This space is still evolving"

and

"Temporarily out of order

(we live in a fallen world)

we will try to restore order as soon as possible"

I loved this picture of the alpaca!  She has such a cute face!

And my most favorite animal at the petting zoo (with the zorse and zonkey a close second)!  I loved his personality!  I had heard that camels and llamas are all in the same family, and seeing a camel up close  proved it!  His personality is so much like  a llama's!  They remind me of being very "proper", and kind of "haughty", but not so haughty that they aren't friendly : )

At the end of the second day, we fed the animals, including the fish in the little lake that they had.  I finally decided on a Creation Museum bookmark, and Susannah and I decided to buy some "space food"---a freeze-dried ice cream sandwich!  We haven't eaten it yet, but when we do, we'll be sure to post pictures about it later!  I also saw some sour cream and onion crickets.  REAL crickets.  I thought that they must be fake, until I read the ingredients!  They also had bugs and worms---real ones---inside of suckers.  That is just not my style of food!  Apparently some people like them, though, because I heard a young boy excitedly telling his dad, "Dad!  I got some crickets!"  I know that freeze-dried ice cream sandwiches are weird, too, but I think I prefer space food, to bugs!

Well, there is a bunch, bunch, BUNCH more I could write about, but I'll let the other girls fill you in on the rest of it---or at least some more of it!

 ~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~Leah~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~

 What to say?

I loved all the water...

...and the bridges (this one was my favorite).

The alpacas were quite cute--I had fun feeding them!

And I thoroughly enjoyed the planetarium...

...and all the walkways and gardens. They were so pretty!

And of course I enjoyed the inside of the museum immensely! My favorite parts in there were probably the planetarium, the Noah's ark rooms, and the great big waterfall in the main hall. And I also liked all the realistic looking people : )

So, to sum it all up,

I LIKED IT A BUNCH!!!

-the end-

~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~Susannah~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~

Getting up at 6:00-6:30 a.m. and driving for 4-1/2 hours (not including stops) was enough to make one tired! (Although it was fun :-)  Thankfully, we could take naps in the van, although it wasn't too comfortable :-)   On the way down, just before going into Ohio and Kentucky, there were big hills. Nothing like that is where we live! We were joking that we call those mountains, and our hills are 3 feet high.  People from places that had mountains would call our mountains hills, and our hills merely just "bumps".    Here is a picture of a *mountain* ;-) Of course, we have seen real mountains, but sadly Indiana doesn't have any!

My favorite parts about the Creation Museum was probably the two "Noah's Ark rooms", and the Stargazer's Planetarium. (And now finding out that the other girls wrote just that too!)  The first Noah's Ark room had a display of the Ark, which was really neat! But, that was only 1% of the size of the actual Ark! (That is what the sign says in the picture below, although you might not be able to read it.)

The second room had mini Arks on display :-) Here is one of many:

(These pictures are rather out of order!)  Our own state welcoming us back!

They had all kinds of really pretty flowers in the gardens. Some of which, were roses:

The front of the hotel we stayed at...it was quite exciting because this was the first time we stayed at a hotel in a long time! The suite was quite fancy too!

I made a new friend!!! I was feeding him (or her...I really don't know!) here (although is looks like I'm talking about him). Now I want one! :-) (And a llama, and an alpaca, and a..... )

The alpacas were so cute! And a lot more shy than the camel! No doubt!

This book, "Behind the Scenes"  is defiantly worth reading! You can learn many amazing facts about the Creation Museum! For example: The scales on the serpent are actually pumpkin seeds glued on one at a time and sealed with fiberglass resin. And another one: More than 80 miles of A/V cable runs through the museum! I could go on and on about that book, but I certainly don't want to ruin it for you!

There are many many more things I could write about, but, alas, there is no room--and time!--

                                     ~Susannah

~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~Cassia~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~♫~

Okay, we all obviously have WAY different views on the travel part of it all. (Go back to Jessica's and Susannah's to see their point of view).  The travel for me it was ABSLOUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! I LOVED IT!!!! Okay, yes, I did get a little sore or whatever, but it was worth it.  I love to travel to places that aren't familiar to me. I did not want to fall asleep and miss scenery that I hadn't seen, so on the way there, I tried to take my nap in the beginning.  (The nap wasn't  very successful, but anyhow)  On the way home though, I was VERY tired. I SO wanted to fall asleep but I didn't want to miss the scenery. So I waited until we were back to my home state, and until we passed all the "mountains", then told Anna to wake me up in 15 minutes. It ended up I slept for 30 minutes instead, but that's okay.  :D  I kinda wished the trip was longer than 5 hrs., but oh well, at least it wasn't just 2 hrs!  :D

Here are some pictures of when we were traveling.

This is us in the van

He is kinda of interesting is he not? He was advertising for a business along the interstate.

Crossing the Ohio River on the way...exactly at 1:55 p.m.

Let's get on to the hotel pictures.

Now you may be wondering why I am showing this picture. It's to show the light switch on the outside of the bathroom. While someone was in there we would shut the light off on them

This is one of the bedrooms in the hotel. We unfortunately took the picture in the morning, after we messed it all up.

Leah doing Charissa's hair Saturday morning.

The "living" area. There was a TV (+ DVD player) in both bedrooms and in the "living" area. Brother Pete!

~At the Creation Museum~

This guy worked there......but anyways he is holding a real live snake, and a lizard of some sort is on his shoulder.

Another picture of one of the Noah's Ark displays.

And here is Daddy, Noah (sitting down) and Isaiah (standing up) in front of one of the waterfalls.

And that is the end of my picture show.

I would say the planetarium was my favorite part about the Creation Museum. I also liked the alpacas...they were VERY cute. I enjoyed the "Dragon Hall" bookstore. One of the things I bought was postcards. I like to collect them so I thought postcards would be nice as a souvenir. I had fun at the Creation Museum. Oh, another favorite was getting a souvenir photo taken (we didn't buy it.....somehow, every picture they take they get a donation for it, whether you buy it or not. I'm not really sure how that works out.) We had two photos taken, one was normal, and the other was a silly one...we were supposed to act like we we're afraid/scared of this decoration dinosaur....and we did....pretty funny.

The traveling was W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L-!  I loved it! The eating out....the rest stops.....the new scenery......traveling on the interstate.....and the whole nine yards!

I don't know what else to write so I guess I will say good night.....( for it is 10:15 p.m.)

Now I can't wait to go out West!

DID WE DO IT?

Posted on Aug. 20, 2009 in Farmgirl Fun

Did we really sew 8 jumpers and 4 shirts in just 4 days?

Results from the poll we took: Total of 39 votes.

  1. Of course....knowing you!--26
  2. Possibly--2
  3. Yes--6
  4. No--1
  5. No way!--4

The answer is NO!

We did it not in 4 days...but in 2 days!!!!!  Unless you count the 4 hair ribbons that we did the 3rd day! :-)

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!          Now we can match the second day!!!!!!!

Do we get to be in the world records now??

Here are some pictures of when we were sewing....I'll make you wait till the end to see the finished result :-)

We had these very yummy (although all you can see is the whipping topping) homemade Jamocha shakes for a snack.

The younger girls were very helpful making lunch both days, watching the boys, and a few other things.

This is what we were orginally going to do around the neck and arms...until SOMEONE decided that it looked too big.   So it all got torn out and redone.

 And the finished result..........

Little Mister is hamming it up!!

Update On Our Crazy Idea!

Posted on Aug. 18, 2009 in Farmgirl Fun

We have 3 days to finish our sewing.....yesterday all we did was wash fabric.    But we are cutting out now and going to be sewing hopefully soon.

We stayed up late last night and got up some what early this morning, so I am tired, well right now I'm okay, but if I just sit and do nothing I could fall asleep I'm sure.

So I am having some caffiene tea to help........

And Susannah is having an apple to help her......

(p.s. Apples are supposed to be more efficient than caffeine in waking you up in the morning.)

We have 8 jumpers and 4 shirts to sew.......STILL!  Yikes!

Will we get them done?????........................

OF COURSE!!!!!  'NO' IS NOT AN OPTION!!!!!

Got to go sew! (and drink my tea.)

Fun at the State Fair

Posted on Aug. 11, 2009 in Farmgirl Fun

On Monday we went to the Indiana State Fair! (This was our first time.) This year's theme is "The Year of Tomatoes". And since it was the year of tomatoes, they had tomato plants everywhere!! :-)

I'm only posting a few of the 190 pictures we took!  Or else, it would take forever to load! (As if it didn't anyways!)

Our tickets right before handing them in! :-) The two boys got in free since they were young enough.

Parking was crazy! This is a picture of the grandstand. We thought it was funny that all those people paid $15 a seat to watch someone sing crazy songs (if you could call what they were doing singing)! I suppose that person was famous! :-)

A part of the Home & Family Arts Building.  This place was huge!!

One of the two 4-H buildings. There were a lot of projects. Especially sewing!

The top part of my dress. There were so many sewing projects that they all had to be overlaid like that. Mine is the green one in the middle :-)

This one is Cassia's.  The middle one (blue and white) again!

This was a small part of all the sewing projects! If you wanted to find one certain project, you had to hunt!

We all thought this was neat! A quilt shaped like the state of Indiana with all the counties on it!

This is my tatted bookmark. Second isn't bad for State Fair!

On there somewhere is the results for Bekah's frozen strawberries. At least they had them organized by the counties!

 Bekah's llama poster

They had all the canned foods lined up in the windows

 Cassia's pickles

After looking at all the 4-H projects, we watched the pig race.  It was one of those funny little things that they made a big deal out of by doing funny things like picking cheerleaders out of the crowd and making them stand in the infield and cheer for the pigs, dividing the crowd up to cheer for a particular pig, and by talking about it all endlessly!!!  But it was still fun to watch :-)

At the DNR building, they had a model of a town. They made it flood every 20 minutes, so we got to watch cars and houses float downstream.

Still in the DNR building: Cassia does not really like Abraham Lincoln. So, she got her picture taken with him :-)

Outside of the DNR building they had a fountain.  And since it was really hot and humid that day, we tried to cool off by standing in the mist coming off from it. Only problem was....we found out really fast that it had bleach in it!  End of that.

For lunch we went back to the van and sat in a line in the shade :-)

A view from the van, the Pepsi Coliseum. I'm not exactly sure what the building is used for; we think it is to show animals.

 The covered bridge

The boys were getting tired, so we got out the stroller

Anna and I shared a lemon-shake-up. Perfect for a hot day!!

A few of the rides (which we did not ride). That tall one looked kind of scary!

 The tomato gift shop

The had everything tomato in there!! Including stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce :-D

The very fancy and air-conditioned sheep and goat barn. It is about 4 times bigger than that.

 The show arena

 A few of the pens

At the pioneer village, there was a small log cabin that is a replica of what the people owned that settled in that area so many years ago!  The doorways (and the roof) were very low!

Those pegs sticking out of the wall is the ladder to the loft!

And finally, the whole reason we went!!.....

 The Dazzling Mills Family!!

Click HERE to see a video of them juggling.

And another oneHERE.

They were really good at juggling! (They also rode unicycles!) We finally found them at the end of the day and they put on a little act just because we were matching :-)  They were actually done for the day, but did it for us anyways.

If you can see them, two of them are riding the giraffe unicycles in the parade.

The person who was giving a show was Slackwire Sam.  The stuff he did was good...and crazy!!

Get the idea about being crazy?! :-)

Click HERE to see a video of him juggling.

They had these tractors pulling shuttles (as they called them) giving people rides for 75 cents. There were quite a lot of them!

Close to the end of the day (we were there for 9 hours!) we got ice cream!!

Leaving around 8:00 p.m. we got home at 11:00 (after stopping at Fazolis for supper).

We all were really sore and tired from the long day...but very happy too!!  I'm am very glad we got to go! It was a nice experience, and it was huge too!! :-) We had to have a map to get around!

If you want to read a bit more about it, visit our Mommy's blog.
