Simple Maiden's Daybook #16

Posted on Oct. 5, 2009 in Simple Maidens Daybook

Today...Monday, October(!) 5th 2009

Outside my window...it is getting cooler! 46º right now :-)  The leaves are turning and we are just now getting the last of the vegetables from the garden.

I am thinking...that we never realize how much we depend on the dishwasher until we don't have it!

I am thankful...for all the vegetables we grow in the garden and can eat fresh!

I am wearing...my green dress with daisies and dragonflies all over it....meaning the print :-) *socks*(!) and one of my Edwardian aprons.

I am reading...."Salad and Diet Suggestions" by N.W. Walker. At least I think that is who it's by.  It is very interesting and has lots of good salad ideas :-)  And, my Bible of course!

I am creating...well, I should be creating more clothes for me. But I barely started some tatted lace that I still owe to Leah...since June

From the kitchen...we are about to peel and slice apples for the freezer, and sausage is thawing for Fried Apples, Biscuits and Sausage Gravy for supper.

One of my favorite things...money-saving and healthy supper recipes for large families (and vegetables that aren't starches) !  And, getting up early. It is so quite and that is usually when I work on some school.

For education this week...I am mainly doing an herb course right now, but along with that is the normal: math, science, history, etc. etc. etc. :-)

A keeper at home skill I am learning/using....one that I am using is canning and freezing food--like apples which we are doing now.

A Spiritual lesson I am learning...patience

Scripture I am memorizing...nothing at the moment...mostly reviewing

I am praying for...missionaries

For the rest of the week...painting (see picture below), freezing apples, making applesauce, making apple dumplings, school, clean the attic (you have no idea what our attic looks like! There is not one inch of floor space!), give and take cello lessons, clean a lady's apartment that I started doing in August, Mommy comes home!!!!, and grocery shopping. I know there is more, but I'll spare you from that

A picture I'd like to share...

A sneak-peek of Cassia's and my project. We hope to make a post of it when it is done.  This is our bedroom by the way!

And a sunrise that I captured about week ago....

Again, I am doing this early --or you could call it late!--.

Today...August 7th 2009

Outside my window...it is getting dark

I am thinking...That it is almost bed time!...I'm not a night-owl at all!

I am thankful that...I am finally getting over this sickness....at least I think I'm getting over it!

I am wearing...My green on green jumper.

I am reading...Psalms, Proverbs, and Isaiah. and The King's Heart, an excellent book!

I am creating...tatted bookmark (again!) and jumpers/dresses for a friends daughter.

One of my favorite things....sunrises and sunsets

For education this week...I think we are starting school next Tuesday.  So, I need/want to be making lists and charts! Another one of my favorite things.  (Not that I always stick to them for the whole year! :-)

A keeper at home skill I am using...sewing, needlework, cooking.

A spiritual lesson I am learning...Trust and Obey!

A godly character trait I am working on...Patience

Scripture I am memorizing...a few verses in Psalms

For the rest of the week...tomorrow we are going to a wedding reception; Monday we are going to the Indiana State Fair for the very first time!!!!!! and Tuesday we might start school...?

A picture I'd like to share.... Three of them actually! :-)

One (of the five) absolutely adorable kittens!!!!

Our grandma gave us some wigs she didn't want, so we had fun wearing them and being silly

A while ago a lady brought a fawn over for us to see. It was SO cute!!!  It was hungry then, so it was licking our fingers

I am wearing...my chicken jumper :-)

I am reading...Psalms, Proverbs, and Genesis. I finished reading through my bible last week, so this year I am trying this one-year bible reading plan.

One of my favorite things...making things that people usually buy.  Such as sour cream, cheese, ice cream, sauces and mixes!

For education this week...cleaning house from the fair and freezing blueberries! :-) Yes, I know....it said For education this week. Isn't that education?!
