We are seven sisters who love farmhouses, old barns, goats (on most days), gardening, cooking, sewing, needle crafts, tea parties, antique shopping and collecting, playing music and chocolate!
Hey ya'll! What's new? I have alot of news just in the last few days.
To start off, we have no more pet rats, they have a new home. We just couldn't keep them anymore. I'm not sad or happy, very indifferent.
Don't play with fire, kids. Yesterday my family and I were working in the backyard, and Dad lit a fire on the burn pile. And, me and Emma, being the girls we are, had a fun time setting sticks on fire and messing around with it. Well, Emma just took a stick out of the fire and poked me in the back of the neck with it! It was not nice, to say the least, but I was too surprised to feel as much pain as I should have. Apparently it looks really bad, but I wouldn't know, because I can't see the back of my neck.
My dad took my sisters and I to an Annie Moses Band concert tonight, and our friends were there too! Oh, it was SO fun, I had a great time, and there were a few other friends from FASA there too. They let J___ sing his song with them. *melts* After the concert, Jeremiah (the youngest of the group), my sisters, friends, and I went outside and played tag. Afterwards, we just talked alot about FASA, had some "fist" fights, other things. It was so great, I love it when we are able to see them!
Isn't he just so handsome?! I'm taken yet again! :) He is so very precious and I am just so happy to have another baby brother to love and hold! :D I know that picture isn't enough, so here is more:
Well, Before I start about the book review, guess what I got to do this week!!!!!! I went and saw Celtic Woman's "Isle of Hope" tour!!!!! It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
The stage was beautiful. They had impressive lighting that changed with the songs. During loud drums, the light would flash very brightly, but it just added to the effect. Lol
They sang all of my favorite "CW" songs, including:
-Orinoco Flow (LOVE this song!)
-The Ceili (Again... LOVE this song!)
-Spanish Lady (Ok, maybe I love all of their songs...)
-Oh, America (A real tear jerker, lol)
-Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears
-The Call
and some solos...
-True Colors (I, personally, wasn't expecting any Cindy Lauper, but I love that song anyway. :o)
-When You Believe (Not really a traditional Celtic Song, But it was beautiful!!)
-You'll Be in My Heart (From Tarzan) (What was with the non-celtic songs? But again, it was beautiful!)
Here's A picture of the tour. (not taken by by me, I followed the "No Photography" rule :o) If you have never seen Celtic Woman, go to their website and find when they are coming to a town near you. You WILL NOT be disappointed! The tickets might seem expensive, but they are WORTH IT!!!!
Alright, Now for a Book Review.
I just finished the book, "The Princess Academy" By Shannon Hale.
Here is a short summary of the story:
"Miri is a fourteen-year-old from Mt. Eskel who has never been allowed to work with the rest of the villagers (young and old, men and women) in the quarry that keeps the community alive. Because of this, she feels like an outcast in the community and feels cut off from the culture that is largely formed by their working life in the quarry. Despite this, she is very close to her father and her sister.
One day, a messenger from the king arrives along with the traders from the lowlands. The messenger announces that the nation's priests have informed the nation that the next princess will come from Mt. Eskell, despite the lack of education provided the villagers and despite the prejudice that exists between the mountain villagers and the lowlanders. To this end, a princess academy is going to be set up near the village to train the young girls the ways of the lowland noblemen and noblewomen. At the end of the year, the prince will visit the academy and choose the girl to be the next princess."
- Summary From Here.
There is more to the summary, but I wouldn't advise reading it... it gives to much away. ;o)
The Good: I felt that this book was very well written. For me, most books have at least a couple chapters that drag on...and on... and on.... but I didn't feel like this book did. I moved along well.
Also, the story line was interesting.
The Bad: There wasn't really anything bad in the book, but there were 2 things that might be a bit offensive to some people. (It wasn't to me, I'm just fore-warning you)
1. There is a bit of slight romance in the book. It is not super prominent (i.e. the entire story is not based around it)
2. There are a few mentions of the *false* gods the Mtn. People believe in. Again, this did not offend me. *Gasp!* No, seriously. I realize there are (and were) people who believe in gods other than the True God. I learn about them all the time in History! Lol
Not to mention, this is not a true story, and they do not talk about it that much. Actually, only at the beginning for a moment.
Final Judgement: Thumbs up. I only give it 4 because I am sure there are other, better books out there, but this is still an interesting (and fun) read.
Thank you EVERYONE for your wonderful entries! It was so nice to read all your sweet comments and how many of you are going to start a Gratefulness Journal for your husbands or daddies! You will bless them incredibly!
I wish you ALL could have won!
I want to remind you that there are wonderful resources at Revive Our Hearts--you can sign up for 30 Day Challenges, and two of them are a Gratefulness Challenge and a Husband Encouragement Challenge! You will get an e-mail each day focusing on another aspect of gratefulness and encouragement. I highly recommend them! You can find them here.
Here are two more wonderful resources at Revive Our Hearts:
One more---this is available as a booklet, which I recommend you get one and keep it with your Bible to read through every day. It has 28 Scriptures with self-examination questions in the first part, and it has 32 statements in the back part covering three categories of building your home up, or tearing it down--Attitudes, Words, Actions. This lends itself very nicely to going through it in a month, reading one of the sections in the first part, then reading one set of statements in the second part (doubling up on the last day)! I've been doing this for 10 years now (my cover has come off!) and it has helped me tremendously in focusing on what God would have me be as a woman whose heart is stayed upon Him, as well as what I call "True Heart Submission".

That is what mom hears when I find another free download of a photoshop program. So far, I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 (yes, it is really old...) and Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 (another older version), Adobe's Artweaver, and now Picasa. The other day I found out what neat things Google's Picasa can do. So I downloaded it. (if you do download it, be warned that it can be a headache and you might end up reinstalling it because you did it all wrong...) Probably my favorite feature is the handy "collage" button. You select the photos, and in one click you have a collage. It takes a few more clicks to get the settings right though. This collage was mady with 250 photos, or something close... The only problem is that with so many photos it makes them really really tiny! Well, they aren't tiny until you resize it... But there was no way I was putting a picture that was abut 5000 pixels wide on my blog!
Here is another one I made with only pictures of Elisabeth's face.
Speaking of faces, Picasa has the neatest feature where it can sort faces! Its really hard to explain, so if you'd like to read about it, go here: http://picasa.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=93773 Its really good at it too! Only once did it think that Alison was me. :-) Even the computer thinks we're twins! LOL!
This last one is just a few random pictures that I've taken that I really like. I'll probably make quite a few more collages with my pictures! It's really fun!
I've learned a few things about Picasa the hard way, but now that have figured a few things out not to do, I'll never never NEVER do them again! LOL!
Here are the rules: Put your ipod(mp3) in shuffle, and then read each question. Answer every question with the title of the song that is playing at the time you read the question. Use the answer to the very last question as the title of this entry. No cheating!!!!!
