A Mountie's Wife

Feb. 16, 2007 - What been going on in our home? not much and everthing

I know that it has been a while since I posted much, life here has been interesting and busy.  Whas been away for the past 2 weeks on a course....good for him and his career a little hard on the family.  Last week W flew my mom down for a visit, which made last week go by quickly.  We hadn't seen her since September,  CW really wanted my dad to come too but he had to work so it was just Grandma.  DJ calls her Grayma, not because she has gray hair or anything it is just the way that he pronounces Grandma.  This week has been not so great weather wise I haven't left the house since Wednesday morning and it doesn't look like I'll be getting out anytime soon, we didn't get the snow but rather freezing rain and our laneway which is more than half a kilometer long is solid ice.   I guess it could be managed but I am not a very brave driver in bad weather especially with the kids.  W  will have to look after it when he gets home tonight, probably have to get it salted and sanded....though I'm not sure about the salt, I don't want to affect the well and it isn't very far off the laneway.
We are having a wood floor put down this week.  W pulled up the all the carpet in the den, hallway and front hall and took off all the baseboard.  We live in our den, so everything in there had to be displaced to other places....the computer and tv into the livingroom, the furniture and toys all moved to the basement.  They guys are almost done, they have them down and sanded (my house is covered with a thin layer of sawdust....I'll be 'spring' cleaning a little early this year), and 2 coat of urethane and just 2 more to do.....it will look nice when it done.
I've been doing a lot of knitting, my new thing is recycling.  I've gotten some beautiful yarn by buying a second hand sweater and unraveling it and creating something new.  Right now I am knitting a sweater for my niece (if you are reading this Jen, skip to the next paragraph) for next Christmas with a beautiful cotton  that I could never have afforded if it had been new yarn.....I figure good for the enviorment and even better for my pocketbook.
W has put in for a new postion.  It would be a great opportunity and it would be better hours, for the most part.  It is a plain clothes unit and would be working Monday -Friday and no nights.....until 'something' happens and then we may not see him for several days.  Overall I think it would be good.  He does deserve it but that doesn't mean he will get it, I pray we won't be too disappointed if he doesn't get it.  However if  he doesn't get it he may pursue a few opportunities in Ontario.....which would be my hearts desire.   We want God's will.
Well that was longer than I expected but now you know what I've been up to.

Mar. 4, 2007 - don't count the cars

Posted by javamamma

Hi! I was finally checking in with my hsb'er friends. Glad to see you're still here. I know what you mean about not driving on bad roads. I had the biggest challenge of my driving career on Friday. I had to pick my hubby up at the airport 1.5 hours away. I decided it was de-motivating to count the cars in the ditch so I better stop. (The cars were mostly from that morning or day before.) I'll be praying for your husband's job - sounds like the switch would be good for the fam. Blessings!

Nice to hear your happenings. I LOVE wood floors. I know things get a little messy when you're renovating. My parents have been in a state of chaos because of renovating since September. I will pray that W will get the new position.

Blessings
